<p>Who had the most difficult childhood?
</p><p>Naruto - who lost both of his parents at birth, became the host of the Nine Tails at birth, and was shunned by the village for most of his life?
</p><p>Sasuke - whose entire clan was massacred when he was little by his older brother, went down a path of darkness to gain power and revenge, and turned on everyone who cared about him?
</p><p>Gaara - who became the host of the sand tailed beast at birth, his mother died during childbirth, his father feared him, he killed his uncle who tried to kill him, and was shunned by others?
</p><p>Itachi - who witnessed war and death at a young age, and was forced to kill his entire clan minus Sasuke in order to protect the village?
</p><p>Kakashi - whose father committed suicide, witnessed the (supposed) death of his closest friend and was forced to kill another friend?
</p><p>I know there are other characters with tragic childhoods, like Haku, Madara, and so on, too.

<p>Naruto, he didn't have parents, Kurama is into him, people hate him. Naruto and maybe Gaara, Sasuke has better life than Naruto.

<p>Sasuke really made everything harder for himself. He had lots of fangirls,a friend like Naruto,a sensei like Kakashi who always concentrated on training him, etc. Whenever others tried to befriend him,he would turn them down or ignored them. I'm not saying he didn't have a hard childhood,I just believe he should have been a bit less revenge-obssesed and more open,he would have been a bit happier that way.

I'd say Kimimaro as he was imprisoned by his own clan.

<p>Agreed. In the end, he chose his path. </p><p>I think Gaara's was the most difficult by far, unable to understand others, others unable to understand him. No matter what he does, he's hated. He's got assassins after him. And he literally can't even end his own suffering. He was made as a weapon, not even as a human. </p><p>Sasuke had people who cared. Sasori, Kimimaro, Itachi, Kakashi, Naruto. They all had people who cared. Gaara had literally nobody. </p>

<p>I don't think Kakashi had it even half as bad as characters like Sasuke or Itachi did, they both lost everything overnight whereas Kakashi still had Might Guy, Asuma and many others, Sasuke didn't have anybody, nobody was there for Sasuke, nobody understood what Sasuke was going through and he lost everything at the hands of the person he trusted most.

<p>I disagree with people like Itachi. Itachi didn't regret doing what he did, he knew that what had to be done, had to be done. he was intelligent and wise enough to bear that burden, to live with the pain and hatred. His only regret was doing what he did to Sasuke. </p><p>Kakashi did have a difficult childhood, because unlike the others he is at the center of his own pain. He caused Obito and Rin's death himself. Especially Rin's death was devastating. </p><p>I think Gaara's pain is the worst, followed by Naruto and Sasuke (which i consider a tie). after that, Kakashi, followed by Itachi. </p>

<p>Naruto may not have had the most miserable childhood, but its still pretty damn close, and isn't it better to have love and lost than to never have loved at all, cause that was the case for Naruto up until Jiraiya's death.

<p>Nobody was there for Sasuke?! So Naruto and others don't count? They were there for Sasuke yet he pushed all of them away... </p>
