<p>I'm afraid that Shonen is pretty much exactly that. I've been looking for new series for a while now but i can't really find anything that truly captivates me. I love a lot of aspects about Naruto (it's ninjutsu is probably one of the best magic systems) but the current snail pace is killing it for me. </p>

<p>if you liked this chakra-stuff than you should...no, you MUST watch Hunter x Hunter(2011), the anime/manga is REALLY good with one of the best villian char developments i have seen in generic shonen (this story has teenager protags too but they dont win their fights with only superpowered one-kill-shot-spamming) ^_^ </p>

<p>Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood might be what you're looking for. The two protagonists are teenagers, but by no means are they over-powered, like at all. The adults of the show could probably beat them. The story is also complex and amazing, and it doesn't center around the two teenagers getting power-ups and over-powering the bad guys. In fact, the adults play a huge role and in the end it seems like everyone is a main character. That was off-topic but I thought I'd help you out in finding a good anime. x)

Look at superhero comics: Superman, Batman, Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, etc are all adults. Both Shonen and superhero comics are targeted towards the same demographic too. </p>
