<p>Overall, who would you say is the most intelligent character in the entire series? I mean in the form of their intelligence as a whole, as well as their wisdom and perception. Feel free to choose any character that you see fit, and if you so please, then explain why. My list is comprised of characters that are either intelligent as a whole, have great wisdom, are very perceptive in battle, or have a mix of the three.
</p><p>When I think about it, Itachi Uchiha is often the first one that comes to mind for me. I could have picked many other characters, but I do not know enough about them to consider it. Other noteworthy mentions that come to my mind are Orochimaru, Kakashi Hatake, Hiruzen Sarutobi, Minato Namikaze, Nagato Uzumaki, Gaara, Sasuke Uchiha, Shikimaru Nara, Shikaku Nara, and Jiraiya.

<p>I feel that Shikamaru will be a popular choice; a good choice, too, admittedly, but I feel that his form of analytical smarts is merely one form of intelligence amidst many.
</p><p>It's hard to pick just one. I'm leaning toward Minato, especially after the praise Jiraiya heaped on him. Then again... perhaps Kakashi. Especially in the later years.

<p>Madara's definitely up there, more intelligent than any other Uchiha or Senju, more than Minato, more than Itachi and definitely more so than comparatively unimpressive Sasuke. I of course am referring to battlefield intelligence which I feel Madara has the most of.

<p>I primarily chose Sasuke because he's very perceptive in battle, and this was proven during his battle against Danzo Shimura, whom himself could also be considered a fairly intelligent character. This was also proven in his battle against Deidara, who was killed by the Uchiha single-handedly as well as severely weakening Itachi Uchiha in battle to the point where the latter's terminal illness killed him. The feat of killing an Akatsuki member one-on-one is something that few others have managed, such as Might Guy and Shikimaru against Kisame and Hidan respectively. </p>

I imagine the same could've also been said for Itachi had the latter not been stricken with terminal illness, simply because his Susanoo would've deactivated due to his Mangekyo progressing fully towards blindness. It's plausible that Sasuke could've then defeated him in a Taijutsu fight, the former I feel as though having a stronger grasp on the art due to his copying of Rock Lee's Taijutsu, the latter of which is recognized as a master in the art across the Shinobi world. </p>
