ALL POSTSIf Pain's secret had been figured out beforehand
<p>During Jiraiya's fight against the Six Paths of Pain, Jiraiya was successful in discovering the secret behind Nagato's jutsu, but died in the process. If Jiraiya had figured it out prior to the battle, do you think he could have killed all six Paths? Why or why not?
</p><p>My answer: Maybe. Even when Naruto knew the secret behind Pain and had a perfected Sage Mode contrary to Jiraiya's, it took not only three entrances into Sage Mode, but also a large amount of Kurama's chakra as well as multiple Wind Release: Rasenshuriken to successfully defeat all six Paths, not to mention an armada of summoned toads to aid him in battle. Finally, this was all done after Nagato had used up a significant portion of his own chakra, and began to weaken. Needless to say, it would be a very, very close fight.

<p>Yes. He fired his sound genjutsu prematurely. had he used it against all six, he would´ve defeated them and been able to confront Nagato </p>

<p>Yeah, basically Jiraiya's biggest downfall was that he didn't know that there were 6 Pains. That bit of knowledge alone would have given him a much better chance.

<p>it's why Nagato could defeat anyone with ease. Any ninja would go into the fight expecting one guy with a rinnegan. The fact that people don't know there are six makes it such a powerful jutsu. </p>

<p>Pein said that he would have lost to Jiraiya if he knew the secret to his jutsu, so yeah, Jiraiya most likely would have won.

<p>It wouldn't be a guarantee due to a variety of possible risks, scenarios, etc...But Jiraiya would nonetheless have a very real chance of defeating the Six Paths of Pain.

<p>Yea but I don't see that happening. If it was all 6 from the beginning, im pretty sure jiraiya would have been stomped. The only reason he had time to prep sage mode was because it was only the animal paths in the beginning. If it was all 6, jiraiya would have to contend with chibaku tensi, shinra tensi, bansho tenin, missle, and rocket launchers , mechanized limbs, as well as soul rip. Pain wouldn't give him the time to escape like he did because bansho tenin would stop that.on top of that, the frogs take time to prep the song. With all 6 , I dont see jiraiya pulling it off as great as he is. Even against just 3, his taijutsu and ninjutsuu were very ineffective, which is why he needed to use genjustu in the first place

<p>If using Chibaku Tensei, Nagato would have to concentrate all his chakra on the Deva Path, which could allow Jiraiya a short window for counterattacks. Also, in the actual fight Jiraiya spent a lot of time trying to figure out which one was the 'real' Pain. If he knew Nagato was controlling them, he would try to locate him, then head straight for his location.

<p>Even if all six peins were present from the start, Nagato wouldn't use CT in Amekagure. During the fight Jiraiya's ninjutsu was being nullified, but the biggest problem he had was their shared vision, so he needed to find a way to overcome that to beat Pein.

</p><p>See, and that's why I don't think it would be a guaranteed win for Jiraiya. At the same time, however, he also didn't know Pain's secret, so he was going in "blind" for the confrontation against the Animal Path, and didn't know how to properly defeat all six of them until it was too late.

</p><p>Very good point, and yet, Jiraiya would still have to deal with the pursuit of the Six Paths of Pain before he could really confront Nagato, and no matter who you are, the Six Paths all together aren't exactly pushovers and should not be taken lightly for any shinobi.
