Something that I'd like to see in the anime is a re-introduction of the Treasured Tools and a far better explanation as to how Hagoromo came to produce them. All we know is the very little that was explained by Samui during the war, but there's never been any explanation as to how they came to be in existence. What are people's thoughts on that?

As things progress at the moment, I wouldn't bet on it. The focus is now on Indra&Ashura and Hagoromo's time as a fighter are over. He may introduce them if he plans to step into the ring once his sons start fighting each other, but there was never any mention of this in the manga and personally, I don't really believe he will.

At this point, indeed the focus is Indura/Asura. But I meant in general: do you think the anime could add something about the tools? I wouldn't mind a backstory for them, but at the same time, I wouldn't care if none came up.

I don't know, they are in Tenten's possession right now, aren't they? All I could think about is her being bored at work, looking at the tools and wondering for a moment how they were created and used by the sage. She then yawns and turns around bored while we have the anime dudes granting us a tool flashback. Something like that.

The Kohaku no Jōhei is presumably still in Kumo's possession. Only weapon that seems to have gone missing is the Shichiseiken, the other three (Benihisago, Kōkinjō and Bashōsen) are in Tenten's possession.

Possible, though she may already know about where they came from (someone else could have informed her about them?). I just think that the series has never really explained these tools properly or given a real backstory and one could be useful or interesting. I can't see them just "appearing" out of thin air, like how are they the "Treasured Tools" of Hagoromo anyway? He must have created them at some point, or asked for them to be made.

The Treasured Tools were conceptualized in a time where the Sage of the Six Paths was still a legendary figure and not much was known about him. Once he was made into an actual character, prior abilities such as the Six Paths and the Treasured Tools stopped making sense.
In actuality, the Tools were just cameos to go with Kinkaku and Ginkaku, all of which were from Journey to the West (as stated in the trivia for the Tools' page).
