ALL POSTSKakashi should have been Jonin Commander?
<p>This is just an idea I had i my head since the end of the series. Kakashi being the Hokage bugs me on a conceptual level. There was no hint Tsunade wanted to relinquish the roll of Hokage save her initial dismissal of the position and she seemed to have great pride in the position during the Pain Assault and the 4th Shinobi War. It also bothers me the leaf village has gone through so many Kage in short span of time.
</p><p>I do agree Kakashi should have been promoted but it should have been as Jonin Commander since Shikaku died in the war. He would still be integral to the village but Tsunade wouldn't have suddenly step down for no reason.
</p><p>I also like this idea because I always cared for the idea of Tsunade giving Naruto the Hokage Hat, passing down Nawaki's and Dan's dream onto him herself.

<p>The idea of Kages having shorter periods of service in the Hokage position is to show how the world has changed, instead of simply dying and self electing a new Hokage, Hokages happily retire their position and pass it on to the next generation, they sure aren't gonna take the position as long as Sarutobi did.

<p>Being old isn't a disqualifier, especially for Tsunade. Despite aging horribly she was still capable of fighting for hours against the villain sue that is Madara Uchiha.
</p><p>And regarding Kakashi's qualifications, everything you've stated only proves he's excellent in a military position but the Hokage is much more than that.
</p><p>We don't know the extent of Tsunade's history but she is regarded as Princess Tsunade, a shinobi who's likely seen more War than most of Kakashi's Era.
</p><p>Add to the fact she's already been Hokage for 4 years under stressful times. There is no reason she would have retired. It was done because Kishimoto wanted Kakashi to be The Hokage.

<p>Hiruzen stepped down from Hokage due to his age. Ohnoki was having back problems and had to be saved a few times during th war because of it (he did brilliantly for his age, but he was a liability because of his age). </p><p>Hokage is a military position, you're sending out forces and strategizing based on strengths and weakness. And Kakashi already teaches the importance of teamwork again and again. He's a great candidate for Hokage. </p><p>I just gave you the extent of Tsunade's history lol. And since when does the title "Princess" make one more qualified for Hokage? And Kakashi has arguably just as much experience. He's been through war and actually became a war hero at 13, and he's been through all those missions as an Anbu. Tsunade quit the Shinobi life at around Kakashi's age at Part 1. So their experience should be similar. Except Kakashi was chosen to lead teams, while Tsunade was mainly a team fighter with the other Sannin. </p><p>She was already pretty old for Hokage. That's one reason for her to retire (like Hiruzen did before Minato died and he took up office again). Another reason is that she didn't want to be Hokage in the first place; she was only doing it to live Dan and Nawaki's dreams for them. Kakashi is a younger, capable leader. </p><p>Anyways, i do believe that Kakashi as the Hokage is well deserved, i just felt like it was more of Tsunade saying "F**k this sh*t" and handing it down to Kakashi

<p>It's important to take in to account that Kakashi becomes the Hokage directly following a war in which the greatest shinobi in history were returned from the dead and brought to bear against the living ninja of every village.
</p><p>We didn't see everything that happened, but we know Shikamaru and Ino's dads got chunked pretty hard. We also saw what just Madara did to an entire army of shinobi. If we infer from those scenes that there was a fair degree of casualty, then Konoha, and all of the villages would have been hurting for man-power and making swift promotions to fill the gaps left by the dead ninja.
</p><p>You see it a lot in real-world wars. Low-ranking soldiers getting promoted just to fill gaps. Konoha would probably actually really need it, since they had that attack by Orochimaru. Then Pain. Then this war, all in fairly rapid succession.

Tsunade was already recognized as one of the best doctors in the world and she already did surgery for extreme cases, ie Rock Lee. </p><p>I'm looking at this from a writer's perspective. Nothing was established for this change, besides Obito's out of nowhere request, and it kinda squanders on Tsunade's character as it was presented in the last few arcs. </p>

He literally was sitting there and Sasuke had to save the day. Tsunade at the very least could have destroyed most of it with her 100 Markings. I would have preferred Kakashi to have been Jonin Commander. He really didn't have the firepower and/or defense mechanisms to protect the village and its citizens like a Kage is suppose to. Tsunade may not have been able to defeat Pain, but she could protected many citizens during Pain's assault.

<p>You think that a Kage has to be able to blow up a meteor to qualify for Hokage? Also, several 6th Gates users blew up half of it. I doubt Tsunade on her own could take out the other half. I think the point of that display with the meteor was to show that no one could deal with that except Naruto or Sasuke. </p>

<p>I never said that. You need to be able to lead and most importantly be able to protect your village when in crisis. I'm not dissing on Kakashi, but all the other kage were able to deal with the meteor. I mean it was even sliced in half and Kakashi did nothing but stare. Tsunade most definitely could take out the other half or at least knock it away in the opposite direction. The woman could literally smash down humanoid Susanoo, a highly durable defence. Anyway, Tsunade has proven her importance as Hokage, what has Kakashi really proven since becoming elected?
