</p><p>a. It will not be a chakra taxing tecnique, but it is, so a lot of chakra is lost in casting the tecnique (like you lose 20% of the chakra for clones?)
</p><p>b. The clone is perfect sage so it has 1/3 of his chakra as nature energy, when all the chakra will return we'll have the chakra of the real body + chakra of the clone and here the natural energy will not be anymore 1/3 of the total (but 1/5)

<p>All the chakra from Shadow Clones return. However, keep in mind:
</p><p>Not many people in Naruto do jutsu with 100% efficiency. So in making a Shadow Clone, some chakra is wasted for most people. And that effect is compounded the more Shadow Clones are made. Naruto originally dealt with it by using his massive reserves, but now he's actually just really good at the tech.
</p><p>Naruto would not become a frog if his reserves were low and he obtained Sage chakra. This is because Sage chakra is already balanced with regular chakra. He would turn into a frog if he received an influx of Nature Energy, since he wouldn't have enough chakra to balance it out into Sage chakra.
</p><p>If the clone became a frog, I think the clone would just be lost to Naruto and that SHadow Clones chakra would be gone, leaving Naruto to recuperate the lost chakra naturally.

<p>I've always wondered about this too. I'm pretty sure Fukasaku explaining how the senjutsu chakra goes back to Naruto is the only time in the series we're told that chakra goes back to the creator (previously we're only told that experiences go back), but the way it's written, it's almost like we're already supposed to know that it's a thing. I figure actually creating the clone might use up some amount of chakra aside from what gets shared, and like Squinty said there's also the issue of people like Naruto wasting a lot of extra chakra when using a jutsu.
</p><p>It's also possible that shadow clones are only considered dangerous because most people have too little chakra to begin with. So when they divide their chakra two or three ways, they become too weak to fight effectively, and when they divide it more than that they risk dying from lack of chakra. A careless person might split themselves into three clones that each use up a lot of their total chakra without realizing it, then even when the technique is ended and the remaining chakra goes back, the original will be left severely weakened. This explanation works even if creating shadow clones spends literally zero chakra.
