Tbh i thought he was just screwed with his entire life because of the uchiha massacre, and Orochimaru brainwashing him. His actions did make sense

I think he made an insane choice of leaving the village and fighting against comrades especially Naruto (the closest friend, he ever had & vice versa) to do so.
