Water is more used for the rival rather than a main protag. I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of protags using water opposed to fire

In some cases, Fire Jutsu is stronger than Water Jutsu, like Madara's Majestic Destroyer Flame.

Both are good ngl, but probs poisoned kunai

Theres also an upside to fighting with the fire sword. All you need is a quick touch with your sword, and now there on fire. Even if they know water style jutsu, this gives you a chance to stab them in the back while they cleanse themselves of the fire.

But overall, the poisoned kunai is the best option, especially if you are an uchiha as you have good aim if you're throwing it.
