Imagine having the most powerful Mangekyō Sharingan technique that provides the strongest offense and defense, but add the pain receptor along with it lol. It's like the Mangekyō Sharingan itself is a double edged sword.

If you use the Byakugan too much you may get blind .Shown with Neji and Hinata in the anime .

@A Professional Idiot mk.2 Couldn't the Uchiha Clan simply take break when using their Mangekyō Sharingan to recover their eyesights just like other ninja clans could when they use their Dōjutsus?

Damage is permanent, but what they could do was not spam their moves like Sasuke did to preserve their eyesight. Unless they had some Hashirama Cells handy
