This tier list will include arcs from Naruto OG-Boruto.

Last post the Itachi Pursuit Arc was placed at under Jiraiya the gallant in perfection. Next up we have the Pain Arc.

Naruto Pain Arc Key Moments

The Pain Arc in Naruto Shippuden is a pivotal storyline following Jiraiya's death. Key moments include:

- Jiraiya's Death and Naruto's Grief After Jiraiya's death, Naruto is grief-stricken and quickly focuses on learning Sage Mode.

- *Deciphering Jiraiya's Message*: The Leaf Village works to decode Jiraiya's message, which contains crucial information about Pain, the leader of Akatsuki, and his abilities.

- *Pain's Assault on Konoha*: Pain, along with Konan, attacks the village, killing hundreds of villagers and causing destruction.

- *Kakashi vs Pain*: Kakashi, along with Choji and Choza, faces Pain. Kakashi dies at Pain's hands.

- *Tsunade's Sacrifice*: Tsunade uses her remaining strength to protect the village from Pain's almighty push which resulted in the entire villages destruction .

- *Naruto's Return and Battle Prep*: Naruto finishes Sage Mode training at Mount Myoboku,

and returns with toads from Mount Myoboku to battle Pain and learns of the village's destruction

Naruto vs Pain - Naruto showcases his Sage mode and his growth in combat abilities pushing pain to his furthest

- *Pain's Speech*: Pain delivers a notable speech explaining his backstory, the pain he's endured, and his perspective.

- *9 tails vs Pain*: Naruto witnesses Hinata's apparent death, transforms into a 6-tailed form of the Nine-Tails, and battles Pain. Pain says, "My pain is far greater than yours."

- *Naruto Meets His Father and Defeats Pain*: Naruto learns the Fourth Hokage is his father and ultimately defeats Pain.

This arc is significant in the Naruto Shippuden storyline, showcasing Naruto's growth and the complexities of Pain's character.

Pains only goal was to capture Naruto and not to kill him. If pain had fought with the intent to kill and not held back the fight would’ve ended a lot sooner. Pain was also nerfed during the fight. And obviously, we all know Naruto had plot armor which every MC has but this is a special case were Naruto had 10 advantages.

Before Pain started his fight with Naruto, Pain had literally fought everyone in the leaf village and defeated them. The Deva Path destroyed the entire village with one Jutsu to the point it was an unrecognizable wasteland.

The Almighty Push was so Destructive, the deva path lost of a lot of chakra and had to recover which gave Naruto a huge advantage.

Naruto had intel on all Pains abilities. Which heavily assisted him. Unlike those before him that died for this intel.

Naruto also had the support from the Toad Sages and all of Mount Myobuku. Gamabunta, Gamaken and Gamahiro being the most prominent. Each of these guys being strong enough to partially fight off a tailed beast.

Naruto also got help from Hinata which may not seem like a big deal but after watching her “die” by pain. Naruto completely lost it and let the 9 tails take over his mind. Kurama fighting for him also helped him in the long run. Pain managed to fight off the 9 tails in V2 state and all the way up to the 8th tail. Pain also tanked a bijuu bomb at point blank with minimal damage. This bijuu bomb had enough potency to nuke a large portion of the village.

Pain used planetary devastation which in size scale is also another attack that could’ve totaled the village. Nagato could have even made this on an even larger scale to truly seal the 9 tails.

Naruto also got help from the 4th hokage. And his father Minato namikaze. Who repaired his seal and put him back in the fight. After using almost all of his power Pain was very weakened at this point. But still managed to fight off another use of Sage mode from Naruto.

Nagato with pretty much no chakra left decided to hear Naruto out and told him his story and related to him. Pain entrusted the future to him and sacrificed his life to revive everyone in konoha he had just killed. Konan even stated if he had enough chakra he could have survived the jutsu. Which speaks for how much life force an Uzumaki actually has.

So just how powerful was Nagato?

I think if Kakashi died during the pain arc it would have made the series a little better. Now listen, I love Kakashi as much as the next guy but, if Nagato hadn't used Rinne Rebirth the stakes and emotional level would have been more meaningful. I mean yeah we can't imagine a Naruto without Kakashi or Hinata, but if they had died it would have been normal not to see them after that. Though I think Nagato still could have died from Chakra deprivation, say he used it on a highly damaged Naruto and saved his life. Not something I think should have happened, but if it did, it still wouldn't be bad.
