<p>It also could be so the anime wouldn't catch up with the manga, not to get out of context with this discussion, but apparantley, another anime, Fairy Tail had to stop it's anime because it was catching up to the manga, and it had gone on hiatus for a year, and Fairy Tail doesn't have as much fillers as Naruto, plus, it also gives more personality to the characters </p>

<p>Hopefully, if it's half filler/canon, it'll remain Canon for the remainder of the series </p>
