Obviously this is not proof of anything at all, Kimimaro went past Zabuza while he was in uniform, so I would assume he was still with the mist, so if he was taking missions relatively close by since the area is kinda foggy. So they could have lived in the land of water given they were bloodthirsty, but as for an original home probably won't get any real info since out of the 5 clans to directly originate from the Otsutsuki Clan, they seem to be the most primitive and probably dumbest to be honest since they had no foresight or even desire for victory since based of their description just getting any kind of bloodshed was as good as winning a fight even if it meant they died.

fair enough but it still remains that his descendants on the male side don't seem to do much with sealing considering Uzamaki were masters of it, and they hailed from the land of whirlpools which was renown for their sealing techniques.
They barely showed anything about him, let alone if he had much skill in sealing, we can't assume he was a master of sealing jutsu or that he was a natural with sealing jutsu, he could be he Clan leader based on age or experience rather then skill in sealing.
I'm curious if gender has a part in it too. I mean the other Uzumaki that we know of are women and not like that are incapable of using powerful jutsu, but they seem either be the Jinchūriki or far more skilled with seals (atleast with the Uzumaki's we have seen). With Nagato not showing any particular skill in seals, at least at the same level he has the powerful charka and lifeforce, but doesn't have the same risk of possibly sealing the eye or sealing Madara, which seems like a reason enough to be the perfect host. This theory kinda applies to Naruto since he didn't show much skill in sealing either and while both lost their Uzamaki parents at a young age, they did grow up and still didn't show a lean towards sealing jutsu despite their family's talents in seals.
It's unfair to consider other kage being weak since we watch the hokage the most, and they seem to be a lineage of gods. Chojuro doesn't seem like he is a bad fighter either since we can't judge because of lack of appearances and the fact that Hidden Mist values swordsmanship above all else and he was one of the 7. Suigetsu is a talented swordsman, but he just took the sword not earned it, it's not difficult robbing a grave.
