Naruto Classic also had tons of filler episodes. Cut all the filler episodes and you're good.
Aside from a slow start and the dragged out end I still prefer Shippuden. Classic is fantastic but I just love Shippuden more. It build upown every aspect from it's predecessor.
(And aside from discontinuing side characters arcs. I don't like that part. But Shippuden got us a lot of new fan favorites. That makes it a little less painful. No pun intended.)

I have to say I prefer the mangekyous with the spiral tomoe.
They build upon the 3 tomoe Sharingan design. They also aren't as overloaded as the ones with the straight tomoe.
Kakashi's susanoo is my favorite. In terms of abilities.
Sasuke's susanoo has my favorite design.
Treesuke can't move. He's basically just a tree. It doesn't need Madara to take down a tree...
That's the problem with prime Hiruzen. There are many statements about him but not actual feats.
Itachi does loose against Minato, Tobirama, Hashirama, Kakashi and Guy. He maybe wins against Hiruzen. But he doesn't have the feats to put him above the other listed characters.
