Both the movie and the manga, for example, gloss over the Chunin Exams, with many of the new characters and teams barely getting an introduction and several matches being barely shown or not even shown at all. There's plenty of room for expansion, although I imagine some people might get even more annoyed by that, as it would essentially be more filler.
The very least, the absolute bare minimum they should do with the Momoshiki arc is reimagine it, I'm not watching anything that resembles too much of a repeat. They can find a better way to get from Plot point A to B without rehashing the movie frame by frame.
Im actually looking forward to the movie adaptation, and i never thought i'd say this, especially after getting a manga adaptation with slight differences. But, its the very slight differences that make me excited for it. As long as its not a complete re-hash of the movie ill be satisfied. Mainly, ill be looking to see if the sequence of events matches the movie (which started off with sasuke v kinshiki) or the manga (doesnt show sasuke v kinshiki until sasuke gets to the hokage's office). Hopefully they expand on the actual chunin exam part and show momoshiki giving boruto the curse mark.

I thought the Manga did it OK, they clearly wanted to get everyone up to speed without spending too much time on it for those that had already seen it. But the Anime has far more luxury when it comes to picking it's arcs, and i really hope this time that we get the full Chunin exam experience. After all, the most interesting part of the first exams was how everyone felt about it and the people's goals, not the exams itself.
We have to keep in mind that the Manga was adapting the novelization of the Movie, which is slightly different and more detailed than the Movie itself.

Actually, manga didn't follow the novel in all the details and frequently diverged from it. For example, in the novel, Boruto defeated Yurui using the shurikenjutsu he actually learned from Sasuke, while in the manga (and the movie as well), he unleashed a shuriken from Kote to win the match.
Another Momoshiki arc incoming *sighs*
@Thekillman I agree the chunin exmans in Naruto is the arc that made it so successful IMO so i hope they do it justice now that they have the chance to animate it versus trying to fit it into a movie. I was split over how they changed the sasuke and naruto v momo to just naruto v momo with sasuke standing behind naruto. Momo also made a comment about boruto before they fought that foreshadowed what he would tell him after the battle. So im hoping to see those new scenes plus more.

At least we're getting more of an indepth look into how the Ootsutski race functions and hopefully this will lead to an otherworldy perspective change for the Naruto universe.
