I feel like Madara was the only truly wise person in this entire series. He summarized the entire world into duality: Winners and Losers. The Senju are only "right" because they won, if the Uchihas were ruling then the curse of hatred would be the dominating ideology that people lived by. But maybe the Senju won because they were RIGHT, you never know.

Madara and the other Uchihas believed that people needed to be controlled while Hashirama and the other Senjus believed that people could control their destinies.

Him opposing Naruto doesn't make him a dick, rather his way is really logical:

The tail beasts have been misused for destruction and sectarian causes in the past, so it makes sense that Sasuke doesn't want them to be free.

The Kages are another issue, they are the leaders of the current system so for there to be a revolution or mass change there has to be destruction in the current system being followed.

So it makes perfect sense that Sasuke is killing the kages and destroying the tail beasts.
