I hate Danzo because he just wanted to look like he cared for the village and stuff but he's selfish like no other, why wouldn't he trust in Shisui to stop the coup d'etat if clearly his intentions were also good, why would he betray the hidden rain if Hanzo's purpose was to bring peace, and many other examples.
Danzo did care for the village. He did trust that Shisui's plan would work, it just wouldn't be a permanent solution and so in stead of the current predictable situation, a future situation would arise where the Uchiha may spontaneously snapped out of it and start a coup not just because of dissatisfaction but also because they were brainwashed. It was buying questionable amounts of time with no guarantee it would last while trading a know situation that he could handle into a complete unknown.
He betrayed Nagato because they considered him a terrorist group and a danger to the status quo, since he was essentially undermining Hanzo's authority. As the nation was already in shambles, having a civil war thereafter would only be worse. Of course said civil war happened because Nagato never really died in that even, but the civil war would likely have happened if Nagato went down the straight path as well.
Danzo's love for the village simply isn't like the others. He cares and defends it on a high political level, not like the Hokage who cared for it's people and the direct well-being. Danzo doesn't really care for individuals, he wants the village itself to continue.
