The Escort Unit (護衛部隊, Goei Butai) was an elite team under the leadership of the Second Hokage— Tobirama Senju. Along with the members of Team Tobirama: Hiruzen Sarutobi, Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado, the unit included Danzō Shimura, Kagami Uchiha, and Torifu Akimichi.
On one occasion during the First Shinobi World War, while being pursued by a team of twenty Kumogakure ninja, Tobirama sacrificed his life to give the others a chance to escape. Before leaving, however, he appointed Hiruzen as the Third Hokage.
