I am wondering this because in Anime episode 130 at around three minutes, Sasuke claims he can tell which Naruto is the real one. This does not really make sense to me because Neji's Byakugan is not even able to tell which Naruto is the real one. I think the Byakugan would be better at that sort of thing. Is this just a mistake in the Anime or am I not understanding something? It seems logical that the Sharingan would be able to tell if a body is a normal clone such as towards the end of Anime episode 36. However, since the Byakugan is not able to tell if a body is a shadow clone I do not think the Sharingan can.—This unsigned comment was made by Cooolsduudes (talk • contribs) .
- The manga doesn't say anything about the Sharingan being able to tell the real person from Shadow clones, so the anime most likely made a mistake. Jacce | Talk 05:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I think that the Sharingan can simply keep track of the real body, not that it can distinguish it at any given time. Seeing as the Sharingan gives color to chakra (as stated during Sasuke's battle with Deidara), it shouldn't be really hard. —This unsigned comment was made by Apex Predator (talk • contribs) .
I didn't see this episode (I don't watch the anime, only read the manga) but it's possible that either Sasuke was able to keep track, like Apex said above. Or, because something about how the Kage Bunshin works ensures that the clones are subordinate to the original, possibly Sasuke can tell who's following who's lead. Naruto can't send his clones orders telepathically or anything like that, so although they're very good at following through with any plans he made before cloning, they probably can't know plans that he'd devised after using the technique. I'm saying this in a really stupid way, but what I mean is that they must look to Naruto for signals. Byakugan, helps Hyuga to see the chakra network and chakra points and to aim on them with gentle fist and 8 trigrams and 64 palms. On the other hand, sharingan, allows Uchiha to see beyond a jutsu, to understand it, learn it, copy it and use it against the original justu user. Sharingan users see clones like chakra molds. remember, the arc with idate morino? on the boat, there team 7 had to protect idate morino from the water ninja? they used nice combination of clones and genjustu. - The problem is that Shadow clones are way more advanced. Byakugan sees regular clones the same way as Sharingan, but Shadow clones has actual substance. Jacce | Talk 05:11, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't think the Sharingan is able to tell which is the real body from the clones made from any element Bunshin jutsu except the original (bunshin no jutsu which creates illusionary copies) due to each clone make a physical copy complete with their own chakra network and all. The only thing the Sharingan can do is predict the attack patterns of the clones not see which is real or fake. Same goes for the Byakuugan where in the Chuunin exams, Neji was fooled to think the clone that stayed behind was the real Naruto. Yes it can. Although it has been pointed out that the Byakugan cannot tell them apart from the real version, that was because Naruto confused Neji by filling all his clones with an equal amount of Chakra running through them as the real Naruto so that telling them apart would be impossible. So one reason might be that Naruto failed to portion out equal Chakra to his clones against Sasuke. Also, during the Chunin exams in the Forest of Death against the Rain ninja, they used clones to attack as well and Sasuke saw through them with his Sharingan as well so it was not just a one off occurence. I think byakugan and sharingan can see through water clones, normal clones etc but neither can see through shadow clones. shadow clone is a better more advanced technique. there is evidence early in naruto that sharingan can see through. but in shippuden even itachi couldnt tell kakashi apart from his clone (when naruto, sakura an grannay fought itachi). You can argue itachi was using a 60% fake body or whatever but he was still able to use sharingan perfectly (jus not mangekyou because he didnt have enough energy or its more bloodline if that makes sense).
^ also im watching kakashi vs zabuza atm and in the first attack kakashi couldnt tell which zabuza was a water clone and he has the highest level sharingan. from this aswell as everything else I posted above, I would conclude that the normal sharigan and byakugan can not see clones. They can analyse chakra and techniques/patterns and find out that way but not from first glance. Mangekyou sharingan is debatable but I dont know enough about that to say. Oli

the sasuke's Sharingan can only see the haze clones....remeber he done it before when he was with other of team(Naruto and Sakura) in the second chunin exam....but he could not see if there is a shadow clone.!!
Also, the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu distributes chakra evenly among the clones, except the main person, as mentioned above, maintains control. But, with all the clones having the same amount of chakra, it will be difficult for any dojutsu to distinguish between them.
