This is a little thought I had after reading one of Jimmy(Jimbo) Whales' e-mails to the Wikia-l Mailing List.

[Wikia-l] One million people reading Wikia - each day!

I was thinking of at some point in the future getting the Narutopedia published in some of the Magazines or other Online or Offline news sources that English fans of Naruto would commonly look at. In such a case, we'd have streams of brand new readers, and potentially editors coming in.

Of course, there are plenty of things that we need to do before we're at a state in which I'd feel that publicity would be a good idea.

  • Finish copying over all the Wikipedia content as content bases.
  • Improve the various stubs we have on Major, or at least early references characters (Basically, ones which appear in the dubbed series being important.)
  • Create a brand new Infobox setup. (I need to rewrite the Character one, and create one for Jutsu, Tailed-Beasts, Objects, etc...)
    • Semantic MediaWiki will probably be finished by the time everything is done. So we should even have a nice browsing ability setup.
  • Fix up our lists and organization to properly take advantage of the automatic methods we've setup for use by that point in time.

Also, I'm hoping to put in a note or two about Wikia ACG along with the Narutopedia. I should also try to have the extensions nicely working by that point in time.

I'm wondering when the planned release of the dubbed Naruto Shippūden series is. It would be quite an interesting idea to pitch the Narutopedia in as something to read up on at the time that Shippūden is released to the English fans.

I'd also love suggestions on what Magazines and other Anime news sources you guys think we could pitch to. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) current discussion Dec 14, 2007 @ 04:36 (UTC)
