Gatai (ガタイ) is a shinobi from Kumogakure.
Personality[]
Gatai considers himself a strong shinobi, and is quite arrogant, loudly proclaiming that he cowed Hiashi into fear when he did not accept his challenge. In reality, a single determined look from Hiashi was enough to break his resolve.
Appearance[]
Gatai is a stocky, muscular man of medium height with a bald head, grey eyes, a dark beard, and thick eyebrows. He wears a white kimono with the sleeves torn off, tied with a black gi, grey pants, and a pair of sandals. He wears a grey turtleneck underneath his kimono, and bandages around his wrists and ankles.
Abilities[]
Gatai is a built man, carrying a huge club without issue. During a battle, his attacks quickly damaged buildings in Konohagakure. When struck by Boruto in the stomach, he quickly recovered.
Ninjutsu[]
Gatai is proficient with Lightning Release, being able to charge his club with lightning, making his strikes more devastating.
New Era[]
Gatai arrived at Konohagakure with his attendant, and issues a challenge to Hiashi Hyūga on the basis of renown. When Hanabi claimed he was away on her father's instruction, Gatai believed Hiashi to be weak. Later, at the Lightning Burger, boasted of having Hiashi scared of him. A fed-up Boruto challenged him to a match, easily avoiding his attacks, and taunting him back, saying he wouldn't even beat Hanabi. Enraged, Gatai resumed attacking, damaging the surrounding area. Boruto noticed it, and attempted to end the match with a Rasengan, but Hiashi stopped them. Blaming himself for not anticipating Boruto's reaction, Hiashi accepted the challenge, but Gatai backed down, intimidated.
