A tessen (鉄扇, literally meaning: war fan) is a fan made of metal and sometimes with wood that could could be used for combat, defense, and signaling. The most famously seen tessen in the series was that of Madara Uchiha, which was of the 団扇 (Gumbai/Gumpai) variety. It was large at about half his height and about his width, with the pole being twice that length. There was also a small chain attached to the handle that was connected to him [1][2][3]
