Kouji was in Konohamarus class at Konoha Ninja Academy. He believs that he will one day, become Hokage some day. Though Iruka said Kouji had to improve his grades befor that dream could come true.
Later, Kouji, Hibari and Futaba formed Nejis team during the Takurami Mountain mission. Kouji and the others would marvel at Nejis abilities to navigate with a wrist watch if a compass wouldn't work.
