The Naka Shrine (南賀ノ神社, Naka no Jinja, Viz: Nakano Shrine, literally meaning: Shintō Shrine of Southern Joy) is a shrine in Konohagakure. In the main hall, beneath the seventh tatami mat from the far right, is a secret meeting place of the Uchiha clan. There stands a stone monument which contains the clan's secrets and can only be read with specific dōjutsu. The Rinnegan is able to completely decipher the contents of the monument, while the Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan are only able to partially decipher it. Recorded there are the secrets of the Mangekyō Sharingan, the story of the Sage of the Six Paths and the Ten-Tails. Madara also noted that the secrets of his body were also there. Also written on the tablet, is the story of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and the Shinju. However, certain facts and details were forged by Black Zetsu, Kaguya's will. In order to access the main hall, a sequence of seals is required to remove the stone that lays atop the entrance way. The seal itself has the Sharingan in the middle and is encircled with seal formulas.

The upper level of the shrine was destroyed during Pain's assault on Konoha, though the secrets hidden below remained untouched and was later accessed by Taka and Orochimaru during the Fourth Shinobi World War. Unlike the rest of the village, the shrine was not rebuilt.

Trivia

• Kabuto and Orochimaru, while unable to read the tablet, managed to come up with a hypothesis of the secrets based on many years of research.
• This location appeared in Naruto: The Broken Bond which also provided an achievement for Xbox 360 and called "Path of Darkness", the Naka shrine was regarded in the game as Sasuke's Hide Away or Sasuke's Secret Room, it is however unknown if at the time the producers of the game knew what this shrine was since it was only shown to be a location that Sasuke was seen while grieving because of the Uchiha Clan Downfall and the thoughts of revenge against Itachi Uchiha. This site can be found in Konoha in game but it's underneath the island in the south-west area of the village instead of under the main hall in the manga.
• This location was also used as an unlockable stage in Naruto: Gekitō Ninja Taisen! 4.
• Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki stated that he created the stone monument in order to discourage his descendants from attempting to recreate the Rinnegan.
• Despite having neither the Rinnegan, nor the Sharingan, Black Zetsu was able to read and rewrite the text on the stone tablet.
