Sunagakure's Puppet Brigade (傀儡部隊, Kugutsu Butai)[1] is briefly mentioned by Kankurō shortly after Chiyo's death. Not much is known about this organisation aside from the fact that it was active during the Second and possibly the Third Shinobi World War. It was presumably composed of Suna's elite puppeteers. Sasori was noted to have created many puppets that were used in/by the brigade.
It is also mentioned that at some point during wartime, the brigade sought to create a jutsu that would bring puppets to life in order to increase their effectiveness in combat.Such a technique was eventually created by Chiyo, but the price (the life of the user in exchange) was deemed too high, thus the technique was labelled a kinjutsu and the research was called off.[1]
