The Akatsuki Suprise Attack and Diversion Platoon (奇襲陽動小隊, Kishū Shōdō Shōtai) was formed by Kabuto Yakushi during the outset of the Fourth Great Shinobi War. The primary goal of the squad was to conduct an air raid on the Allied Shinobi Forces. The members were all resurrected by Kabuto using the Summoning: Impure World Resurrection technique.[1]
History
Kabuto selected the members of this team based on their ambush abilities. However, when Chūkichi refused to follow orders from Akatsuki, Kabuto erased his personality. The team later located the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party while they left the area of Mountains' Graveyard.
The Surprise Attack and Diversion Platoon first engaged the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party before they could leave Akatsuki territory. Deidera bombed Muta Aburame of the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party from the sky. Muta Aburame narrowly avoided the attack and used the Insect Jamming Technique to disrupt Chūkichi's sensing abilities. However, Muta Aburame was eventually captured and used as a puppet by Sasori.
The Surprise Attack and Diversion Platoon then intercepted the Allied Shinobi Forces' Surprise Attack Division. The Surprise Attack Division was within Akatsuki territory setting up exploding tags and various other traps when Muta Aburame, while under Sasori's influence, infiltrated the Division's base camp. Muta Aburame's bug jar was filled with Deidara's Exploding Clay. Muta, while being controlled by Sasori, took Zaji hostage. However, before the clay was detonated, Kankurō was able to pull Zaji away from Muta. Once Muta was in closer proximity to the Division, Deidara detonated the clay inside Muta's bug jar.
However, Kankurō recognized that Muta Aburame was being controlled by Sasori, and Hoheto Hyūga was able to find the Exploding Clay within Muta's jar using his Byakugan. While Deidara was detonating the Exploding Clay, Ittan used Earth Release: Moving Earth Core to transform the area around them into a pit saving from the explosion. Chūkichi was able to relocate them using his sensing abilities.
Shin was also preparing to engage the Division, when Sai descended upon him and broke his neck. Soon after, Shin regenerated because he was a resurrected. Sasori quickly sent in Ranka and Tokuma, who were captured earlier when the platoon dealt with the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party. However, Omoi deflected all of Ranka's and Tokuma's attacks.[2]
Eventually, Shin and Sasori's souls were released from their bindings due to Sai and Kankurō, respectively, and their resurrected bodies returned to ash and dust, thus giving the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party valuable information on breaking the Impure World Resurrection technique. Deidara was also trapped inside one of Kankurō's puppets. Chūkichi, being the only one still active, requested backup from Chiyo's group.
