same armadillo in the manga??[]

is this the same armadillo in the manga so is a male armadillo?? --Nitram86 (talk) 13:23, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

I'm assuming it is. There was a bit of an issue as to whether or not the armadillo was male or female. I think this is the anime expanding on that.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 13:47, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

Isn't it female? --79.101.204.212 (talk) 18:56, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

The manga made it clear that it is a male. Jacce | Talk | Contributions 18:59, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

Should it mention it's attracted to males dispite being a male?--—This unsigned comment was made by 213.119.105.232 (talkcontribs) .

I don't see why. Especially the "despite" bit.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 20:45, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

Shouldn't it be noted that the gender differs for the manga and anime? It does indeed identify the armadillo as a female in the anime, so why say it's a male? Don't take it the wrong way, I just feel it'd be unlikely for "that" kind of stuff to be airing in Japanese television, especially for kids. 2chikage (talk) 04:48, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

So far the anime's only difference from the manga concerning the gender is that Armadiko seams to have a crush on Naruto. Jacce | Talk | Contributions 05:21, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

Armadiko's seiyuu is also female. '~' 2chikage (talk) 05:41, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

So is Naruto's (both). Jacce | Talk | Contributions 05:54, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

Lol "that" kind of stuff? Whatever do you mean? Jacce I think - if I remember correctly - there's a scene in the manga where Armadiko is cosying up to Naruto and he's either pushing him off or petting him, it seems like an extension of that. There's no difference to me between Armadiko and the 'one in the manga] both look the same (bristling eyelashes and lipstick(?)) and had the same shy and reserved mannerisms only to be found to actually be male. Androgynous characters have always been in Japanese television, I'd assume they're more use to it that most others.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 10:09, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, well I`m just saying Armadiko`s seiyuu has a feminine voice. And comparing Takeuchi-chan (Naruto`s seyuu) with this seiyuu is unfair, considering Naruto`s voice is masculine. But I guess it's up to the higher ups whether to keep it or not. 2chikage (talk) 14:17, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

is like Gamariki is a male but his personality is like a female and now we have the confirm in the last episode --Nitram86 (talk) 13:23, March 22, 2012 (UTC)

guys i think about adding the manga pictures of the relevation of the gender because there is a big discussion on the real gender of armadiko i fear that this fact make a change between gender if not solved --Nitram86 (talk) 20:56, March 22, 2012 (UTC)

The latest episode confirms that it is in fact the same armadillo. Armadkio's gender shouldn't be an issue on any front any more.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 21:05, March 22, 2012 (UTC)

i know but in the anime for the censurship the 'organ' can be see while in the manga yes... so in the note where there is the anime manga difference we must add the pictures from the manga so nobody can complain --Nitram86 (talk) 21:08, March 22, 2012 (UTC)

Orrr they could just go to chapter 513 and have a look for themselves yes? This wikia is not supposed to be satisfying whims and fancies.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 21:11, March 22, 2012 (UTC)

ok then --Nitram86 (talk) 21:22, March 22, 2012 (UTC)

Is there any reason to keep the transphobia, or should we just fix the pronouns?[]

Since we have a bit of an edit war brewing, we should probably settle this in the talk page.—This unsigned comment was made by Loopy Squid (talkcontribs) .

Please remember to sign your talkpage posts with four tildes (~). Last I was aware, simply acting like a woman or pretending to be one didn't automatically equate to being transgender. I don't even believe he expresses wanting to be a woman, it is just a mistake made by the other characters. And funnily enough, the kanji on his shell is "male." As far as I'm aware, it isn't stated. You're here pushing an agenda over a cartoon armadillo. Munchvtec (talk) 19:21, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
If this is truly just about a "cartoon armadillo", then there would be no reason for you to act this way. Why are you pushing so hard about Armadiko being male? There is no proof for this in the source material. She is obviously embarrassed about her genit., and doesn't want anyone to see that she has a pen. (disallowed words, sorry).Loopy Squid (talk) 19:43, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Where does the episode say he's a woman or wants to be? Being a feminine man doesn't make you transgender. It's an issue because it's misinformataion. Also, why would anyone want people to stare at their genitals? Munchvtec (talk) 19:45, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
If it's misinformation, then so is claiming claiming them to definitely be a feminine man. That part is never stated in the source material. If that is truly the only problem at hand, a sensible way to address this would be to put their gender as unknown, and expand upon this in the text, stating something like: "Armadiko themself never clarifies whether they are a feminine man or possibly a transgender woman". Loopy Squid (talk) 19:54, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
And that would be us disregarding what is shown. Removing gender altogether and making a note that he could be trans is unecessary speculation, which we don't add to articles. Armadiko does not claim to be a woman, trans or whatever. What we do see are male gentials and his shell stating "male." That isn't speculation. Again, being a feminine man does not equate to being transgender and we shouldn't be adding the "oh, well, what if he is, and what if we're offending people." Munchvtec (talk) 20:00, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Again, where is the proof? There is literally nothing that proves them to be male. It's all speculation, so just remove it. Loopy Squid (talk) 20:02, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

There is proof, you just do not like it. There are two options here, and one is significantly more speculatory than the other. You know which that is. Munchvtec (talk) 20:12, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Rationalise it all you want, but it's pretty obvious that you are simply biased. You pull proof out of thin air, and act like it's word of god, no one is allowed to question it. Do you hear yourself? Loopy Squid (talk) 20:25, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Genitals are proof unless otherwise stated. Munchvtec (talk) 20:28, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Genits. aren't proof irl, so they aren't proof in anime either. This isn't constructive. Loopy Squid (talk) 20:30, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
They are proof unless otherwise stated, yes. Which is not stated otherwise. And for the record, it has nothing to do with my personal feelings. I've written articles on transgender characters in the past no-issue, so. Nice try? Munchvtec (talk) 20:32, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Acting like being transgender is such a rare phenomenon that it doesn't need to be considered unless explicitly confirmed in writing is a form of transphobia. It's akin to historians likening same-sex relationships to "intense friendships".Loopy Squid (talk) 20:40, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Guess I'm transphobic then. Munchvtec (talk) 20:50, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Acting effeminate or looking feminine does not make this character trans. If mere looks or attitude were enough, Gamiriki, already brought up in a previous topic would also count. Or the many times vandals have changed Haku from male to female over his appearance. Loopy Squid, you keep asking for proof, but you're not showing any proof the character is actually trans, because there isn't any. Sure, there are things that are compatible with it, but compatible is not confirmation. This is a franchise where one of the main jutsu used by main characters is the Sexy Technique. Closest thing we had about different gender identiy/expression is Orochimaru, which we do note. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 23:43, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
It's ok to assume one thing without proof, but not ok to assume another even when there is clear indication, apparently. There is no clear proof in either direction. I'd totally get it if we'd go with neutral pronous, but just choosing "male" because you feel like it just shows you're not as unbiased as you think. Loopy Squid (talk) 23:54, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

I knew that feckin' Armadillo was gonna cause trouble the moment it turned up in the manga. -_-; A lotta manga artists are not equipped to handle gender politics with any sort of nuance or sensitivity, and let's be honest, it's a frickin' armadillo that was used for a one off penis gag. I think we should make the phrasing gender neutral in the text and add a note that despite being sexually male, Armadiko presents as female, including the suffix to its name being common to female names in Japan. That way we don't have to have a war over misgendering an armadillo and we can all get on with our lives.Hawkeye2701 (talk) 04:20, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
