White Snake Sage[]

Do we create a new article for White Snake Sage (human) or do we assume that somehow the old woman indeed is the White Snake Sage?--Elve [Mod] Talk Page|Contribs 19:50, September 20, 2018 (UTC)

I think it's safe to assume that White Snake Sage is still the same one, but in the human form. It's enough to compare the altar and the bed of the two Sages (snake entity and human entity) to see that they are an obvious match (the snake variant is simply larger). Plus, the appearance of these two is strikingly similar (Sage granma has the same turban with hair and the necklace as the Sage-snake met by Kabuto). And for the last note, Sage granma noted that she is supposed to teach senjutsu to the person who passes the trials, which is too similar to the story of Kabuto studying under the Sage-snake to learn senjutsu. Even if they can transform into humanoid form, by use of Transformation Technique or otherwise, the issue is that White Snake Sage is supposed to be male and even Orochimaru referred to him as such. So unless he likes to be an old woman sometimes, something doesn't add up. But considering Orochimaru's tendencies to change gender, it wouldn't be that surprising if White Snake Sage is also a transvestite or transgender :D--Elve [Mod] Talk Page|Contribs 20:57, September 20, 2018 (UTC)
Are we even sure that Orochimaru's reference to the Sage as a male was made in original or it's only an issue in the subs? Anyways, there's too many obvious coincidences to treat Sage snake and Sage granma as different beings. The trial maids are clearly snakes that take on a human form (they call Boruto and ko "humans", which means they aren't ones), there's no surprise if WSS can also switch their appearance. Pretty clear to me they're just barely disguising themselves as human-like, similar to how the toads can change their size with ninjutsu. I don't think the White Snake Sage has ever been properly referred to as male or female before this episode, at least in a conclusive way beyond what subtitles need to do to adapt non-gendered Japanese pronouns. Would be nice if someone who knows at least some Japanese were to check the part when Orochimaru refers to WSS as eccentric, what pronouns were used.--Elve [Mod] Talk Page|Contribs 21:15, September 20, 2018 (UTC)
