  • Itachi Uchiha :

    Feats:

    - able to figure out and counter chibaku Tensei within seconds. (while edo)

    - While dying from a terminal illness, being out of chakra, and being legally

blind was able to summon his susanoo faster than enhanced lighting can strike him.

    - Had a full on fight with Sasuke while being legally blind, terminal illness and not wanting to kill Sasuke.

    - He instantly shut down Orochimaru every single time, Orochimaru tried to do anything. (it was so funny seeing Orochimaru constantly be in a genjutsu)

    - had Kage level thinking at the age of seven.

    - He also eliminated the entire Uchiha clan with Obito. (age 13!)

    - Able to stop Kabuto, even though Kabuto had several counter measures and prior knowledge of Itachi's abilities (and avoided killing him).

    - Easily took down Kakashi using genjutsu even though Kakashi has a sharingan of his own.

    - Zetsu (a person who has existed since the time of Kaguya and Hagoromo) called Itachi INVINCIBLE when he had both the yata mirror and totsuka blade.

    Hindrances:

    - Had a terminal illness for god knows how long and was only surviving in the end due to his sheer willpower, to die by Sasuke's hands.

    - He was a natural pacifist and avoided senseless destruction

    - He never wanted to hurt anyone from the leaf village and he probably could have killed (Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi) easily several times through the series.

    - He was legally blind by his final battle, and we don't know how bad his eye sight has been (probably a while considering how fast Sasuke's eyesight faded in the series).

    Prime:

    - The only thing holding Itachi back was his stamina, and it should be fair to assume that his terminal illness probably was a major factor in his lack of stamina throughout the series as Itachi has many high chakra consuming moves at his disposal (shadow clone, susanoo, ameterasu, tsukiyomi)

    - His terminal illness also probably would have severly weakened his body as he was literally coughing blood and struggling to stand in the end.

    - His eyes have been shown to be able to keep up with just about anything in the series (lighting), even when he was legally blind.

    • Obito, Orochimaru and Kisame all admitted Itachi is stronger/would kill them. Itachi was.... different. With no disease, full health and full eyesight and alive? yeah he's a beast. Itachi, Nagato, Hiruzen, Tobirama Hashirama, and Madara are pretty much the strongest characters ever in their prime/life. In the 4th war, everyones powers were contrasted against Edo Tensei's.. so in the end the only time Sasuke and Naruto would stand a chance against them one on one is with their 6 Paths power ups.

    • Some of the feats you mention are slightly incorrect so if I may... Feat 1-4 correct. Feat 5 is completely false. He thought like a kage at 7 not kage level intellect or power. He cared about and tried to do the best for the village at that age, it was talking about his love of the village not his intellect though it was undoubtedly high at that time as he was a genius. Feat 6 is correct. Feat 7 needs to mention that he had help from Sasuke his equal power wise. Feat 8-9 correct. As for hindrances... hindrance 1 is incomplete he had medicine to help as well. hindrance 2 correct. hindrance 3 isn't a hindrance at all its just a simple fact. hindrance 4 is pretty clear actually as he when he fought Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura, and Chiyo his vision level was around Sasuke's before Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. So its around that level. As for prime... prime 1 agreed stamina was a issue but I never assumed his chakra was effected by the disease and I think there is no evidence to say it was a contributing factor as Kimimaro was in a similar situation and his chakra levels seemed unaffected by his disease. prime 2 the disease undoubtedly weakened his body, however his struggling to stand at the end was quite literally his stopping to take the medicine some time before catching up to him combined with his loss of will to live. prime 3 is correct.

    • No the medicine was only to sustain his life. No, Itachi could have killed Kabuto from the start if he wanted to and also, Itachi was an Edo Tensei.. how many times do I need to explain that as shown with Madara.. their living counterparts are far stronger than their Edo Tensei forms even with Kabuto and Orochimaru's new usage. Madara was beaten by Hashirama, restrained and about to be sealed.. then once he came back to life, even without eyes he busted right through the seal and was stronger, faster and had more chakra. That is the difference that every Edo would experience coming back to life, Itachi would need to take Sasuke's Mangekyo eyes that he left at mountain's graveyard since his eyes would be in Sasuke though.. therefor not only would Itachi have EMS, he would have full health, no disease and full power all around.

I never said the medicine was for more than sustaining life, I just said it was needed and should be included in the above topic. His being able to kill Kabuto from the start is debatable but lets move on. Living counterparts are stronger and faster this is true however the chakra thing is absurd. Edo tensei have infinite chakra. You can't go from infinite to finite and say you have more chakra in finite form. Also as for your comment on Itachi coming back, the manga clearly showed that Itachi wasn't powerful enough(and neither was Nagato for that matter) to overcome being called back only Madara has shown this.

    • Wasn't Madara's edo a special more complete version of the edo tensei as well?

Itachi has always interested me since his character and moveset is a lot more different than what people are usually accustomed to. Itachi is probably one of the most strategic characters I have seen in any media as he is able to always figure out how to put you in his genjutsu (even if they precautions and prior knowledge).

I think the whole strategic element of the naruto series as a whole is what attracted me to it so much more than other series such as DBZ (even though I enjoy that as well).

    • Infinite chakra does not mean larger chakra capacity. Living forms have larger capacities than their edo forms, although edo's have infinite replenishments. Breaking Edo Control was not about power, it was about Madara knowing how to, he knew the hand seals and the moment he was able to use it so he did it. Itachi said already he never wanted to kill Kabuto, only release Edo Tensei and "heal" Kabuto from his hurt and misguided mindset, hence he used Izanami on him.

Okay I get the chakra thing, sorry I misunderstood you a common mistake :) As for your comment about the power levels having nothing to do with it, what I said and what you said are both half right. The more powerful the user, Madara said, the bigger the risk someone powerful will figure out how to break free of the jutsu and then the problem of a unkillable ninja with infinite chakra would arise. Itachi according to this statement and even Nagato wouldn't be powerful enough to figure that out, though yes your answer is correct. But as for the fight, Itachi even without his peak powers still has 2 undeniable advantages. Advantage #1 he can't die, he'll just heal from it as he's edo tensei. Advantage #2 he had Sasuke's help. Yes I know, he wanted to "heal" Kabuto and release the edo tensei but the claim that Itachi could kill Kabuto right off the bat in the fight if he wanted to is unprovable either way, that's all I was saying about that.

    • Imagine if Itachi had the Eternal Mangekyou; he'd never get blind again, won't feel pain or exhaustion using the mangekyou, and his visual prowess would be stronger.

    • All he would have to do is go to mountains graveyard and take Sasukes original eyes and transplant them.

    • I think that Itachi never did get to use his power at his prime. I seems like he contracted the disease at quite a young age, I have no idea how, and had it for at least more than two years before his death. Though, even not at his prime, he was still an enemy to reckoned with.

I mean, he could be Hokage if he wanted, heck, he could have surpassed Madara in terms of skills! But no. As all great and powerful characters, they have to have something keeping them back from reaching their ultimate and true potential. I say his name with distaste...Sasuke.

And that's the question isn't it? IF he was the only child, and had no disease to hold him back, what would he have done? And that everyone, is absolutely the same thing, with a few differences. Kill everyone, and this time everyone, in the Uchiha Clan and become a renegade shinobi on the run. Join the Akatsuki, spy for the village, and die somehow a heroic death in the end. After killing the Akatsuki members off one by one...[cries] Sasori!

...though maybe not before impregnating some woman to ensure the continuity of the Uchiha line.

      The End.

[sighs] The possibilities of his character are endless...And all wasted on Sasuke...T-T

    • After hearing DeidaraXAkatsuki's post, I don't think the current anime truly depicted how tragic the story of Itachi was. Itachi is a character who was forced into killing his entire clan, whom he would have deeply loved and had a constant relationship with (the whole thing about the Uchiha being the most loving clan & how they are located all together). He murdered his parents, lover, children, babies, friends with all of them having a hatred towards him (except parents). He committed the unthinkable, in order to save his nation from going to war and his younger brother, Sasuke.

Most importantly until Sasuke learnt the truth, every in the world despised Itachi for what he had done and his own little brother would have wished he never existed. Itachi didn't care about how people would perceive him, and only wanted to help the leaf village's greatest interests.

    • Thanks friend [Trappedinmygenjutsu]!:P You wrapped up what he had to go through all in two paragraphs, truly a depressing and really unexplored tale of Uchiha Itachi. I wished Masashi Kishimoto gave more insight on Itachi when he made that decision to condemn his fellow clansman, and family to death. It really is a mystery what kinds of emotions he was going through when he finally did it. Besides sadness, of course.

How he lived doing what he did, and all for the sake of averting World War IV (and look at how that turned out :P), and for Sasuke? I-I can't imagine it. T-T Shouldering all that hate, all that blood on his hands...He lived eight years alone and entangled in his own webs of lies. And the most heartbreaking thing is, he only lived those years waiting, wanting to die in the end. He knew that was the only thing left going for him, and truly that...was tragic.

The last phase of his master plan. Impart on Sasuke his remaining powers and die with the intentions of bringing the truth of the massacre to his grave, and atone for his past sins.

      Mission accomplished.

"Here lies, Uchiha Itachi, Shinobi of the Konohagakure no Sato, the True Wielder of the Will of Fire."

    • Itachi could fight most of the Naruto characters with ease in his prime. Basically all the non-OP characters besides Hiruzen fall before him
