In regards to that new opening: Goddamn it, Pierrot's gonna make Madara's hair white, but make his magatama pattern red. Damn it all.

So the Demon Desert just has giant bugs running around like it's no big thing? SHINO, HANDLE THAT.

Pretty standard filler than just explained how Ino can use medical-ninjustu.

But that ending...LOVE IT. Madara's seen some shit.

    • Would've preferred Madara with the crimson red hair, but whatever. Ending was meh, loved the opening. I liked the episode, brought some needed attention to Ino's overall development, even if it's simply cloning Sakura. Still waiting on the Fū, Akatsuki, and Gaara plotlines (you know, the interesting ones)

    • The openings/endings are good and it's clearly a sign that the filler must be ending soon, since it wouldn't make any sense to change the opening/ending if the filler was going to keep going up to the next change. So yeah, we can expect a return to the manga events within the next few months.

Back to the episode, I found it pointless. Filler within filler isn't helpful. >_>

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Most of the filler they've done in the past has had openings/endings that relate to the canon content. The only exception I can think of is the Three-Tails filler because that one was so long (and that was also one of the better filler arcs). Apparently, we may have this filler going on for quite some time- maybe even until June or July (possibly longer). Besides, the canon content they show in the opening doesn't always relate to the content in the anime. If you remember opening #15, they showed Obito as the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki at the end. However, he was only the Jinchuriki for about two of the episodes that had that opening, meaning that they unnecessarily spoiled it in the opening.

As far as my thoughts go- opening #17 does not even come close in quality when compared to opening #16, which is one of the best openings in the series. However, it was still decent. I disliked the beginning that showed Team 7, as it looked like it was going to be a generic opening and it took too long to get to the good stuff. From the moment we see Hagoromo, it got a lot better. Naruto's Six Paths Sage Mode looks awesome in the anime, but for some reason we never saw Sasuke's Rinnegan (I checked- in the battle scene with Madara, he just has two Sharingan activated). Madara looks pretty awesome- I liked the white hair over the crimson hair; I don't understand why they chose that color, as white makes more sense. The added battle scenes with Guy, Sasuke, and Naruto against Ten-Tails Madara was awesome, and I hope we get some more of that to extend the battle before Kaguya appears. And speaking of, I liked the brief glimpse of Kaguya- I already get the feeling that the anime is gonna make her so much better, similar to what they did with Obito. The final shot is also pretty awesome, referencing chapter #673 when Naruto and Sasuke unite against Madara. All I ask is that when they really animate that scene, they use better animation, as it didn't look too detailed.

I liked the ending much more. All it was essentially was Madara's history, and given that Madara is an amazing character (the best villain in the series- though Orochimaru comes in at a very close second), I enjoyed it very much. It also looked like the animation was much better for the ending than the opening. If anything, that is more of a sign that we will get back to the canon content sooner rather than later.

As far as the episode- I haven't watched the anime in over a month. I'm planning on bing watching this entire filler arc instead of wasting my time watching it every week. I would prefer to just skip it all together, but I really want to make it a goal to watch every episode in the series, and so that means I have to watch it all some time.

    • The new opening was a little "friendly." The ending was a little better. We got a Kaguya cameo.

      The episode, eh.

    • While I'm rather indifferent to the opening, I really liked the new ending and the little message it delivered. All the badass shinobi used to slaughter those of the other villages until a shared foe (Madara) appeared, leading them to unite and courageously fight him and....still get their asses handed to them by him...hm.

To the episode: Wasn't really bad but nothing world-shaking either. Ino never was one of my favourite characters and that won't change, though I think showing her getting the motivation to become stronger for her comrades and thus find "her own place" wasn't a bad thing to do. Also, I found it hilarious that the kickass soundtrack nearly tricked me into thinking that reading books and standing over an octopus was the most epic training ever.

At the end, there's only this to say: RIP second scorpion. May the next one be luckier.

    • The ending is cool, where they show a fast flashback of everyone's pasts like Kakashi's, Sasori's, Gaara's, Hinata's and many others. Then showed Madara in the end as if he's the one who caused it. Then Guru-guru cameo and lots of next arc stuffs. For the opening, it seems that Guy vs Madara will have more fights than a direct 8th gates. Next arc pretty much only about Guy vs Madara and Naruto-Sasuke vs Madara. It seems they don't plan to put fillers in the dream sequence lol.

For the episode, it's great that we know that Ino have medical skills, but she never used it other than in the Sound 4 filler right? Also I think during the Three Tails arc, that Ino have bad chakra control, which explains the ripped scrolls over and over.

    • I kinda like this arc...why? Because I have been wanting and had a feeling that Kishimoto would give us some more in-dept info and background info on Sakura's training and I was excited at the fact. I don't really like fillers much but this is actually kinda cool...seeing everyone's past efforts.

I like the opening and ending, and I can't say which I like better. But in the opening I felt that they would show Kaguya and I was right. Happy again, albeit was just a glimpse. Also, Naruto's Six Paths Sage Mode, Madara-Juubi Jinchuriki, AND Eight Gates Guy was awesome! But all-in-all, the opening and ending could've been better.

Kishimoto has absolutely nothing to do with the anime and the filler arcs. So I don't know why you think he does, because he doesn't. Any filler arcs in the anime are made up by the anime directors and story writers, they don't involve Kishimoto whatsoever.

    • I see...but as the creator he has a say, like the colour of things...take the Rinnegan for example...it wasn't always purple. It is his manga, hence he has a say in what they do.

Nope, the animators can do whatever they want, it's an adaptation of Kishi's series. The reason for the different colours is because, when the Rinnegan was first shown in the anime, no colour depictions existed, which were later corrected when they were made available. So no, Kishimoto has no say in anything for the anime, the animators are free to do what they wish. If they want to correct mistakes, they are free to do so, but they're not obligated to do it.

    • this is only the opening and ending visuals, they have been prone to be wrong. Wait for the actual episodes to reveal what they decided to use.

    • White hair for TT Madara is actually correct, because Obito had it too and so are Kaguya's hair white. No reason for it to be red.

        Loading editor
    • Actually I agree. Kaguya is the TenTails and her hair is white. hm...

        Loading editor
    • Red hair could be possible too, since the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki has always been stated to obtain Hagoromo's power rather than Kaguya's, complete with his magatama pattern and Six Paths Senjutsu. Which admittedly has never made any sense to me, as not only did he not create the Ten-Tails, he apparently never even had its body sealed inside of him. It also appears that Obito and Madara's hair may have turned white for different reasons, as Obito's changed before absorbing Ten-Tails and was permanent (like Nagato's) whereas Madara's only changed temporarily.

    • And the spoiler from last week looked so promising, hoped for some more action and Suna chars, not An Ino centered episode (have there ever even been one of those?). Not much to get excited about unfortunately, but the medic training being fleshed out with the octopus was a nice twist.

I think it can all be summed up by the fact that most other commenters are talking about the opening and ending Visuals.

Did like the scorpion on spit barbeque though

hopefully next week will be better

    • Since it was shown that Ameno could use Medical Ninjutsu, I guess that next week would be Medic Ninja vs Medic Ninja. You know, like Tenten and Ajisai, or Lee and Shira.

Hagoromo was TT jinchuuriki, so Kaguya's power is Hagoromo's power too.

    • One thing I noticed as I was watching is more plot holes as even though they tried to focus on Ino's story, it was clear that they were giving her a different background on why she wanted to become a medical ninja compared to what was established in Part I's own fillers.

It was clear from what I saw that all the fillers from Part 1 that took place after the Sasuke Recovery Mission were completely ignored in this episode (even though like this episode they are also technically non-canon) to where Ino's flashback takes place after Naruto left the village with Jiraiya following Naruto's failure to bring Sasuke back.

Guess this episode is a case of filler contradicting earlier filler.

Wut? No, Kishi hasn't got jack crap to do with the anime. Literally nothing. Fillers are filler for a reason, they're things that the animators made up themselves, they have nothing to do with Kishimoto.

Calm down, in the anime/manga industry, actually gaining the approval of the creator of a series is nothing unusual. In fact, it's needed at least once, otherwise you would violate the copyrights of the season. In this case, I think Kishi and his managers gave the scriptwriters of Studio Pierrot a lot of space to do their own thing, so that the animators can turn it into reality. But saying that he has (or at least at one point had) absolutely no impact on the anime is dense itself.

It's very rare, that's probably the only filler arc that had minor involvement from Kishi. Other than that, fillers are just random storylines that the directors make up themselves.

    • I personally skip the openings/endings. However, some character development with Ino and Sakura is nice since it might quiet down some of the haters. I did find it unrealistic that Sakura was able to read all of those books, and memorize everything that was in it after one read, without taking a break. Also, Ino should've run out of chakra, and she also would've had to take a break. But then again, my policy when it comes to manga/anime is if that something doesn't make sense, is to just go with it, instead of trying to make sense of it.

    • I'm still curious what's gonna happen with Fu. Even with all of the Amegakure teams hunting her down, I still can't see any of them taking her down, even Ajisai's team. Speaking of which, I didn't realize she was the 2nd Animal Path until I checked her wiki entry ~10 minutes ago, even though I saw her summon the giant panda. Did anyone else get a huge surprise? Also, when was it established she was the 2nd animal path?

Remember when the T&I unit were looking through the Rain ninjas head to find out more info about Pain? There's a memory of him and someone else carrying her corpse to the tower where Nagato and Konan live. It shows her face. I think it was a flashback when Naruto was battling Pain. But I can't be sure. Besides they don't have to capture her, just report on who she is. After all, there's a one month respite between the 2nd and 3rd exam. Plenty of time for Akatsuki to capture her. All Ajisai has to do is use her sensory technique, and after she gets confirmation, her team can retreat. Their goal isn't to become Chunin so even if they fail it doesn't matter as long as the info reaches Konan and Pain.

    • I'm also curious which Akatsuki members will hunt her down... Sasori said Deidara and him only got one apiece, hinting that Sasori had hunted none down and Gaara was Deidara's first Jinchuriki... Kisame's actor passed away so he and Itachi won't be making anymore arrivals... Pein and Konan are busy with Amegakure... So should we be expecting Hidan and Kakuzu to show up for Fuu when the time is right?

Not necessarily. It could be Konan and/or Zetsu. Konan's strong in her own right, and Zetsu isn't a pushover either, although he's more of a spy then a fighter. Or who knows, Pain and Konan could come to capture her. Because the 5-tails was also captured during this time maybe Kakuzu and Hidan captured him instead of Fu.

    • Episode was OK (much better than those for Team 8 ) and they gave out new start and ending. If that stuff comes out soon it will be good, or else they just love milking(already confirmed) and burning. The main plot at the start of these filler arc was to attract the rebels and the akatsuki... nobody yet... its gonna be a long long arc.

Well, from Ajisai's flashbacks it looks like Konan is busy in Amegakure, and although Zetsu isn't a pushover, I get the feeling that sending him to a desert to capture a jinchuriki who can fly may not be the wisest idea... I feel it would also be ironic if the only Taki-nin in the Akatsuki hunted down Taki's only Jinchuriki, but that's my thought.
