  • The bootleg scanlation is out now. Random thoughts:

    • The miniseries has a project logo called Road to Boruto, strongly implying that it acts as a prequel of sorts to Boruto: Naruto the Movie.
    • The kid sitting next to Boruto in class looks remarkably similar to Toneri. Coincidence? Probably.
    • Naruto is now using Shadow Clones to spend time with Boruto, which annoys Shikamaru.
    • Sarada suspects that Sakura isn't really her mom, and finds some evidence in a broken picture frame that Karin could be her mother. Perhaps the speculation is correct, or maybe it's all a red herring. Given how quickly it came up, I'm betting red herring.

    • The end is an obvious red-herring.

    • The Toneri look-alike intrigues me. And Karin being Sarada's real mother was somewhat expected since her first appearance.

Chapter 701 would be fine I guess... That or Chapter S001 (S being "Special").

Seems like she does this quite frequently (she was complaining about the loan, right?). Can't wait for next week's chapter with FINALLY Sasuke appearing. Simply because he left when Sarada was still a baby (noticed the Uchiha crest in Sakuras back? :D) and then becomes Borutos sensei in the Movie... I'm confused.

Well, we either call it "Gaiden Number 1" and treat Naruto Gaiden as a seperate series, or we call it "Number 700+1" or "Number 701" and consider it part of the main series, I guess?

As for the numbering, personally I think we should start it over, and write it in the infoboxes like how we differentiate Shippūden episodes from the first anime. So, by the manga debut portion, it would say either "Naruto Chapter #[number]" versus "Naruto Gaiden Chapter #[number]". That seems the obvious choice, really, considering it is a separate manga series.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. Maybe that rumor that was floating around about Karin having died protecting Sasuke and/or Sakura and Sakura keeping her glasses as a memento held some validity. In any case, I'm happy to believe that Sarada is Sakura's daughter, especially if you consider that she does, contrary to popular view, share some features with her mother (the forehead size being my case in point).

No. One requires Indra and Asura' chakra. Being Uchiha or Uzumaki/Senju doesn't automatically mean that. See Obito: he was an Uchiha who had Hashirama's (Asura's) power, and yet he didn't awaken the Rinnegan because he didn't have Madara's (Indra's) power.

    • Well, my guess is that Kishimoto designed Sarada to look like a female Sasuke. And if we go back in time, we'll remember that many fans thought that Karin looked like a female Sasuke to during her debut in the manga. I think the reason for the fact that Sarada looks nothing like Sakura and 100% like Karin is that both Sarada and Karin look like female Sasukes (one intended, the other unintended). Kishimoto probably found out about several fans pointing this similarity out, so he decided to turn it into a little joke.

        Loading editor
    • Honestly, I don't think Kishimoto is very good at red herrings.

Case and point, Tobi. So yeah now I think Sarada's lineage is up in the air.

That being said, pretty hilarious that the first chapter of the new miniseries is firggin about Sasuke and the man isn't even there ha ha.

      Sarada, It's Not That Serious!

The problem is that she is constantly being reminded that her father is not around whenever she sees her classmates interact with their fathers. While it may not have bothered her at first, it eventually did via death by thousand paper cuts style.

    • Is it just me, or did Konoha look a LOT like Amegakure in that chapter?

Also, knowing Kishimoto, the answer here is obvious: Naruto busted out the Sexy Jutsu and that's how Sarada was born.

And also something about the Six Paths.

Sakura's question dodging could be more that she and Sasuke aren't actually married. I wouldn't be surprised if she got knocked up and Sasuke left without ever knowing. It's not unreasonable to think that Sakura wouldn't want her daughter to know that.

Well, I expected at least one volume and ten chapters would definitely fill a volume... But how are we supposed to know what "mini"'s supposed to mean when the actual series had 700 chapters? I think even 70 chapters would be considered a "mini"-series in comparison to the original one...

    • I don't see the miniseries ending before the week that Boruto: Naruto the Movie premiers, the first week of August 7, particularily since they're using the "Road to Boruto" tag for it.

There are going to be 15 issues of WSJ between then and now. Assuming Naruto Gaiden runs without any breaks, that's 15 chapters, or about 260 pages total. That's longer than what they'd want to put into a single volume.

So it stands to reason that there will either be a few short breaks in serialization, or they're going to run it for closer to 20 chapters, through the entire Summer, and it'll clock in at two volumes total.

Using the painted beasts to capture the opponent, and then conducting chakra through the beast for Mind Body Switch Technique, similar to what Ino did with Chakra Hair Trap Technique. It's a fail-safe way to use the jutsu, don't you think? I could also see some usage similar to Mind Clone Switch Technique, maybe called something like Mind Beast Switch Technique (心転獣の術, Shintenjū no Jutsu).

Seeing as there are rumors that Orochimaru is going to be the villain in the next movie it could be that Sasuke is/was trying to track him down. I mean he is the one who brought him back, it's kinda his reasonability at this point.

Gotta admit: I couldn't stop snickering at the possibility of Karin being the mother of Sarada. It could potentially create a very interesting story/personality foundation for the young lady if that's the case. not to mention why Sakura took her in if she's not her mother, covered up the photo of Hebi/Taka and put herself on top of Karin.

But all that will be revealed as we go through the chapters.

still, one thing jumps to my mind: how the heck did they get Suigetsu to pose for a photo along with Sasuke and Karin? and just where is Jugo?

My guess is that Sarada tracks down the demented-duo consisting of a Zabuza-ripoff and a homicidal recluse in order to get some answers

If it is Karin's child, she wouldn't be the result of an affair and Karin would most likely be already dead. This is not soap opera.

But at the end of Chapter 699 it was suggested that Sasuke and Sakura were already in a Relationship, and since Sarada was born after Sasuke left the village would mean that Sasuke cheated on Sakura, if Sarada is Karin's daughter, thats technically an affair.

I don't think they were really in a relationship already at that point. He only poked her forehead like Itachi always did. If it's Karin's child, I really think he was in a relationship with her at some point after the war and she died some time before the events of the final movie.

i agree, this makes the most sense,

Well since the "Poke-the-forehead" thingy is truly special to him due Itachi, he would only do that with someone equally special to him, at least thats human nature. And most likely (If Sarada were Karin's daughter and Sasuke's Girlfriend/Lover/Thefuckcanbecalled) she would have died after The Last events, not before, since Boruto and Sarada are the same age and Boruto was born 1-2 years after those events.

Quite frankly, I have no idea what happened in the movie, so I don't know to what extent the relationship between Sasuke and Sakura bloomed or whether they were specifically stated to be a couple at that point, but I still don't think that poking her forehead immedietly meant they're now a couple. It's a special gesture, yes, but I think there's a bit more to starting an actual relationship and showing mutual romantic feelings.

No SasuSaku in the movie, it was all about NaruHina, at the end of the Movie some months after i guess Naruto and Hinata married and 1 year or 2 after (Cuz i dont think that they will make kids right straight after marrying and a baby needs 9 months to grow) Boruto was born, so yeah If anything happened between Karin and Sasuke it must have happened after The Last. And yes, it's a special gesture only, and in other cases this would not be enough to prove something, but on Sasuke's case, anything related to his Brother is important as F**k (Just remember that he wanted to destroy Hidden Leaf Village and kill absolutely everyone for Itachi) so the Poke thingy might not be a proof that they are in an actual relationship, but a proof that Sakura is important for him as well, truly important.

Well, if there was still no sign of an actual relationship at that point, it would fit if Sasuke had a short relationship with Karin after the Last but at some point after she died or left for whatever reason, accepted his feelings for Sakura or something. That Sakura is important to him is clear and no one truly doubts that, but it still leaves the possibility that they weren't actually a couple. So the possibilty that, IF Karin actually is Sarada's mother, Sarada not being the consequence of an affair is a likely possibility. Not to mention that I really don't think that "cheating" is... the kind of moral topic a manga like Naruto would cover.

Well, you see, like Madara fused his own DNA with Senju DNA to awaken the Rinnegan, it might work with the DNA of a descendant of the Senju clan, namely the Uzumaki DNA, too.

    • What about the possibility of Sakura being unable to get pregnant? I believe it would be able to explain that why Sarada has very close similarities to Karin. Plus the fact on how Sakura reacted, sure it's understandable to get angry when your own child questions if you're their parent or not, but I think that putting a crater in the ground, which destroys your own house, is a bit too far. Hell it could be that Sakura was unable to be impregnated so Sakura and Sasuke went to Karin to ask to have their child. Or maybe Sasuke just cheated on Sakura, who knows.

Karin being Sarada's mother is out of the question. She was infatuated with Sasuke, but she probably ended up with Suigetsu or something. After so many issues, we all can see that Sakura deserves Sasuke, 'nuff said.

      Well, no.

To achieve the Rinnegan (Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo 's chakra) you need the Transmigrant Chakra of his two sons, namely Ashura and Indra. Madara was able to achieve it because he was the Latest Transmigrant of Indra at that time. With Hashirama being the same for Ashura. Just being a descendant of the Uchiha or the Senju does not guarantee that they will be the next transmigrant. (especially when the current living transmigrants are still around...like alive. Like Sasuke and Naruto.)

But that leaves me on another point. When did Hashirama die, and who could have been the transmigrant RIGHT after him? There is the possibility that before the transmigration reached Naruto, there was one just before. Or in this special case the transmigration can skip a generation or two...or three. So far as we know Sasuke was born not too long after the "death" of Madara. So who was the one that died before Naruto's birth? Hmmmmmm......

I like pondering these kinds of questions.

I know of one young boy who could have fit the bill. He died, obviously, while in the care of Orochimaru (in his team). You guys can guess who that is. I know you are smart enough. Well he's just one candidate. I have no others.

    • Naruto and Nawaki have been consistently compared in various ways, its likely he was an incarnate but we will never know. If incarnates had to be the same age and around at the same time then Naruto would of been born the same day as Sasuke instead of Sasuke being conceived for 3 months before Naruto was even thought of. So it is very possible that Ashura moved on into Nawaki while Indra was still Madara, then of course Nawaki died.

      Now your over reaching here.

I never inferred that transmigrants HAD to be born the same day. That's why I brought up Nawaki. There seems to be just a bit of a gap between the death of Hashi and the birth of Nawaki. And a big enough gap between Nawaki's death and Naruto's birth. It seems too convenient, though.

Anyway. Back the the previous point up there^^^ somewhere.

No...Just having the Uchiha DNA mixed with that of the Senju isn't enough to awaken the Rinnegan. Though a Senju descendant is a good host for an already developed Rinnegan. Like a certain Red Haired boy.....

    • I. Personal Thoughts & Observations:

      • First of all, like before, the art was on point in this chapter. Everything looked amazing, which all goes into my belief that when it comes to the actual artistic style, Kishimoto is one of the best mangaka in the business. This is best represented in the two-page spread of the Hokage Monument- it looks great!
      • I was very relieved when Shino started off the chapter by saying Boruto's generation will be taking the graduation exams soon, meaning they will be real shinobi. Personally, I was never a fan of the Academy, as it never seemed like it could offer an interesting story point. By having them all become shinobi sooner rather than later, the plot can escalate into something with much more substance. Hopefully that means they will graduate within the next few chapters.
      • Who the hell is the kid with the grayish hair that Boruto was talking to? Of all the parts in the chapter, this one has got me the most curious, as he may even be the one to become the third member in Boruto's squad. So far, here are the few possibilities that have gone through my head- the first is that he is literally no one and is completely irrelevant; the second is that he may be Kakashi's son (which would make him a very old father, and who would the mother be?); the third is that he could be Toneri's son (they look very similar, and Kishi did say he wanted to include Toneri in the manga); and the final possibility is that he is Orochimaru and Kabuto's love child (really hoping it's this one xD).
      • The overall dynamics between characters is really intriguing me so far. First of all, we have all of the children's relationships with their fathers, which works very well and is how I imagined it. Next, we have Sarada and Chocho's blooming friendship, which is something I never really thought about before. Then, we have Naruto and Boruto's relationship, which actually looks like it's going pretty well and it makes me curious at what may happen to make Boruto resent his father in such a serious manner. From the chapter, this was one of my favorite elements, as I always wanted to see Naruto interact with his son in such a manner (even if it is just a clone, but even then it doesn't really matter since the clone retains all of this experience).
      • Going off of the previous point, we then have Sarada's relationship with her parents, and specifically Sasuke. Honestly, I don't really know how I feel about Sasuke not really being there for his family. It's all gonna depend on his excuse for why he has been gone this long (even then, it probably wouldn't do much for me since he's my favorite character- it would have to be a big f*ck up to make me feel different about his character). But back to Sarada, this entire dynamic is really making me gravitate towards her character. Even more so, it appears as if she is not the natural born talented Uchiha like her father was, and so that may add a lot more relatability to her character which will make me root for her more than Boruto (who actually seems like he may actually be more of a prodigy than Sarada).
      • Sakura's confrontation with Sarada was somewhat played up as comedic relief, but I actually consider it one of the more thought-provoking moments of the chapter. The scene presents a thought-provoking discussion about Sakura's relationship with Sasuke, and it really starts asking the tough questions. Sakura's reaction to Sarada's words obviously show an act of desperation, as she's trying to hide her true feelings. Hopefully some of this will be worked out after they reunite. BTW, what was up with Sakura forgetting whether or not Sasuke had glasses? I'm pretty sure she would remember that he didn't...
      • And now we get to the polarizing part of the chapter- Sarada finding the picture of Karin. After seeing that, I actually laughed a bit because it just brought up the ludicrous theories from way back in November. I am 95% sure that this is just a red herring, and in fact it may be a segway to reintroduce Taka and/or Orochimaru, as a way to show what's happening with them. While it's not impossible that Sarada is actually Karin's daughter, I do find it very unlikely. Sarada being Sakura's daughter is much more believable, and I hope that is the case. While this is somewhat interesting, I also pray that this isn't a long story arc, as we don't really need to focus on who Sarada's mother truly is.
      • Finally, we get to my favorite part- Sasuke appearing at the end. If anything, I'm just happy that it reveals he is actually in the miniseries. I do hope that he is on his way back to Konoha, as I'd like to see how he acts in that environment. However, I am also starting to think there was a reason why Sasuke was not back at home, as there may be more to his journey than just wandering aimlessly.

      II. Predictions & Conclusion:

There is a lot to predict for the upcoming chapters. Revolving around that mystery kid, I mostly gave my suggestions above. Same thing with who Sarada's real mother is- it's obviously going to be Sakura. I do wonder how exactly the course of the next few chapters will go- either they will stick with Sarada's dilemma or they will start focusing more on Naruto and Boruto. I personally hope they stick with Sarada, as this new development has got me pretty curious as to how it resolve itself. Now, the fact that we saw Sasuke at the end hopefully means he may get some more panel time in the upcoming chapters. Like I said before, I do think there is a specific reason why Sasuke wasn't in the village, and it's more than his personal journey to discover the world. While it may possibly relate to Kaguya or the Otsutsuki, I think it's more likely that it may have to do with Orochimaru and/or Taka. Best case scenario, he has been investigating Orochimaru, and this may lead to some kind of conflict in future chapters/the movie. Either way, I'm pretty sure Sasuke is returning to Konoha, and I hope it happens next chapter so we can see his reunion with Naruto, Sakura, and most of all, Sarada.

As far as the chapter goes, I thought it was a great way to start off the miniseries. I found it very interesting that it was actually starting with Sarada/the Uchiha, but it worked overall. Hopefully many of the key components established in this chapter will carry onto the next, before starting to focus on something else. Too bad we have to wait two more weeks for the next chapter...

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to say that I don't believe you. This is obviously denial. That doesn't indicate anything just yet, neither for Sakura being the mother nor for Karin, but if you're going to argument with mother and daughter looking alike, but say she doesn't look like Karin, I think it's understandable that I have to assume huge prejudice.

Amusingly, how many times have we seen someone actually hit with a ninja tool and live? Cause all the times I remember someone actually getting hit with a conventional weapon, they died.

There is a reason why Tenten is regarding as being completely useless; if she ever did hit something with her barrage of weapons, they'd be dead. For a series where people can survive all manner of stupid stuff, getting stabbed with a kunai seems to be insta-death.

    • No, it would have started with his funeral as he had lost control in sadness and rage and several hundred people got killed in the process trying to seal Kurama into some other lucky brat. In better case scenario he wouldn't have lost control, but dyed his hair black and captured other jinchuuriki to extract their Tailed Beasts for himself and plucked out Sasuke's Sharingan getting Rinnegan from Ashura-Indra chakra merger thingy. Oh right, one shouldn't forget "The world shall know pain dattebayo" as his new catchphrase.

    • Important Questions to Consider:

      1. How long do you think it will be until all the children graduate from the Ninja Academy?

      2. Who is that mysterious gray-haired kid talking to Boruto?

      3. What do you think of the recent character dynamics (mostly the children's relationship with their kids)?

      4. Was Sakura being truthful about Sasuke being on an "important mission", or was that her trying to justify his absence?

      5. Who is Sarada's real mother- Sakura or Karin?

      6. What is Sasuke's deal? Where has he been, why has he been gone for so long, and is he returning? Furthermore, do you think it has anything to do with Orochimaru and/or Taka? Finally, how will certain characters (specifically Sarada) react to his return?

    • I liked this chapter more than I expected. I'm glad Naruto (finally?) realized he can use Shadow Clones to be in more than one place at a time to spend time with his son. I liked the focus on Sarada -- so far she seems more interesting than Boruto. I'm glad they changed Chouchou's hair color so there's some contrast from her skin tone. Very curious to see where this is going.

Kirin-Senpai, i think that you meant "Mostly the children's relationship with their parents" here.

Also i think that there's a Posibility that Sarada was actually born from Sakura, but due a born disease or something her live was in danger, in that case Orochimaru or Kabuto may have used Karin cells or DNA to help her and that might be the reason why she looks alike, it sounds pretty Twisted and far beyond logical but can be too...

      1. They'll all graduate next week at the age of 12 just like their parents.

      2. Not sure, but he looks an awful lot like Toneri.

      3. It's fine. I'm interested in the Toneri look alike and finding out what Rock Lee's son's name is and who his mother is.

      4. I think she was telling the truth. Sasuke may be an ass at times, but he isn't so much of an ass that he would abandon his child and wife for 12 years for no reason at all.

      5. Sakura. I believe the chapter was done the way it was done by Kishi as a trolling attempt. It was all done to incite suspense and curiosity into us when in reality Sarada most likely only has Karin's glasses and nothing else. If Karin really was Sarada's mother that would permanently destroy SasuSaku and make it even worse than it already is in my eyes and take a massive blow on Sasuke as a character and Kishi as a writer.

      6. I believe Sasuke may be traveling around finding and eliminating any remaining Orochimaru bases and it could be connected to Taka somehow.

Also that is definitely red-herring. Sarah has been confirmed to be Sakura's daughter. You guys have to remember that Sasuke wasn't big on showing his emotions either. I think and this is my opinion Kishimoto is just having fun throwing loop holes at us. Until I see solid proof saying otherwise Sarada is the child of Sasuke and Sakura, the end for me for now.

This has been bugging me as well. I mean let's say Karin is in no way affiliated to Sarada, then what was the whole point of that chapter? Due to Kishimoto stating that Sarada has some of Sakura's physical features, I'm going to have to strongly doubt a genetic relationship between Karin and Sarada. But if that's the case, what was the point of Sarada even questioning her parents' marriage and her genetical affiliation with Sakura in the first place? If everything turns out to be as it seemed, then this whole scene was for absolutely nothing. Clearly there must be something behind it.

There is actually a very good reason I have been thinking about. Karin is linked to the Taka and the taka are linked to Orochimaru. Orochimaru last time I checked still wants the Sharingan Kekkei Genkai. This combined makes me think, there could be a whole steal the Sharingan arc again. All Orochimaru needs to do is say he knows her father and knows about what happened to Karin which would make sense and consolidate all the thinks we want to find out about all into one place plus set Orochimaru up as the villain for either the finishing of the arc or for the movie. At least this is what I'm hoping for.

It's called a character arc. It's basic story circle stuff. The story will almost certainly go something like this:

      1. Sarada starts out at home, living her normal life.
      2. Sarada wants to know the truth about her parents.
      3. Sarada is thrust into an unfamiliar situation.
      4. Sarada has to adapt to her new situation.
      5. Sarada finds out the truth.
      6. Sarada faces a confrontation.
      7. Sarada returns to her normal life...
      8. ...as a changed person.

That's a very basic story structure that has been used in fiction going back to ancient mythology. It creates a full character arc. So, an example of how this might work:

      1. Sarada is living her normal life at the academy...
      2. ...but something isn't right. She questions what it means to be a ninja, and doesn't believe Sakura is her mother.
      3. She graduates from the academy and is placed in a 4-man cell with Boruto and Mitsuki, with Sasuke returning to the village to be their master.
      4. They go on missions and/or train together, while Sarada still tries to learn the truth.
      5. In the midst of a battle, Sarada learns the truth about her parentage.*
      6. Sarada awakens her sharingan and defeats her enemy.
      7. Sarada returns home from the mission or training...
      8. ...having grown and learned things about herself and her parents.**
      * Example I just made up: Sarada's glasses are broken in the fight. Sasuke's back is to her, blurry. She has a rush of fuzzy memories from early childhood, before she had her glasses, so everything is blurry and hard for her to understand. Sasuke is home, with Team Hawk -- maybe Sarada was kidnapped and they rescued her, or they were just visiting. At any rate, Sasuke is saying his goodbyes, he gives Sakura a kiss and pokes Sarada on the forehead. Kabuto recognizes that Sarada needs glasses, and Karin gives her own glasses to her as they depart. Sarada sees her father's back as he leaves, blurry, but by the time she puts on her glasses he's gone, and Sakura is the first person she sees clearly.
**Continued: Sarada, having learned that Sasuke and Sakura are truly her parents and love her, visits Sakura in the hospital and apologizes, tears up, and reaffirms her love for her mother, probably with a "shannaro!" thrown in somewhere. The family is reunited happily.

Now, this is just off the top of my head. Given how mysterious Mitsuki is, and that the title of the miniseries is "The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring," I reckon there will probably be a good amount of development for Naruto, Boruto, and Mitsuki. However, Sarada is set up as the protagonist by the first chapter, the title of which mirrors the first chapter of Naruto, so I think it will ultimately be about her journey.

    • I wasn't exactly refering to the entire story circle itself, but more to... the employment of stylistic devices, though that was a very nice explanation and prediction, dear. As it was also the case in your example, what I was merely trying to say was that the whole scene needs to have a point, meaning it needs to be in some way related to something that is going to, or already did happen in this story, which was in your case the Taka members saving Sarada. Kishimoto is not the kind of author who employs the distancing effect in his work to maintain an authentic atmosphere. Everything he writes and creates somehow is of relevance for either the plot or the comedic part of the show. Now if there was really no point in that whole doubting the marriage thing and Sarada's story is exactly what she thought it was for 12 years of her life, meaning that there was absolutely nothing to her accusations and supposed clues, then this entire scene could've very well been cut, because indicating something that eventually meant absolutely nothing doesn't seem like something Kishimoto does.

    • > her glasses most likely came from Karin notice that they share different glasses in colors so that's not true.

The main point here should be that Sarada doesn't understand why she has bad eyesights, do they come from heredity? If so she is not the child of Sasuke and Sakura who both have good eyes, this should be Sarada's personal assumption. However the story wouldn't just go like this. I think Sarada just randomly mistook a woman with glasses her real mother, the fact could turn out as that her bad sights are due to different reasons, like her potential power, not because she's not Sasuke and Sakura's kid.

      <snip> - no images

    • The glasses are not the same color. Karin's are dark brown and Sarada's are red. They are only the same shape and that's it.

    • Hello, To my mind, it might not be Karin the problem, but the whole Hebi team in itself. If you look at the picture you can see that Suigetsu form was also hidden by some pictures. So, what if something happened to all the members of the Hebi team ? I don't think that Sakura was trying to hide Karin in particular, even if for some reasons she may doesn't want to talk about them. Also, she seemed pained by Sarada's words but I think that it's because Sarada doubt of Sasuke's love for them. Well these are just my mere thoughts.

        Loading editor
    • At first, I doubted that Sakura is Sarada's mother. But after contemplating too much, I realized that Sarada is really Sakura's daughter. Why? Well, lemme compile some good points I have read in this discussion and also in some discussions in other sites.

1st: I think the only similarity Karin and Sarada share is ONLY THE GLASSES. It's NOT even the same in my observation because while re-watching some N.S. episodes, I realized that Karin has black/dark brown glasses while Sarada has a red one. Also you can't tell that they (Sarada and Karin) have the same appearances since her almond-eyes can be like that of Sakura's or Karin's (for me, the eyes of girls drawn by Kishi's are all the same except for the eye color and the length of eyelashes).

2nd: Maybe some of you think "Being with Sakura, maybe she’s probably heard “Shannaro” a lot of times, so she developed the same habit of saying the same catch phrase". Well this is a possibility of course, but there is also that other instance when Naruto inherited her mother's catchphrase ("Dattebayo") WITHOUT growing up with her.

3rd: For some who doubt if Sakura and Sasuke are married, I'm actually 99% sure that Sasuke and Sakura are married because she wears the Uchiha Symbol in her back (how thick-skinned she is to wear the "Uchiha" Clan symbol if she is not legally related to Sasuke, and I don't think Sakura would be that desperate). Aside from that, Kishi has more emphasis on SasuSaku's relationship than SasuKarin's.

Lastly: You say, why would Kishi put that mother issue on this chapter if it has no significance at all? Well, it has significance of course (I don't think Kishi would put that JUST to troll us). NO. I think he wrote that since he wants to re-introduce Taka again (as Taka's under Orochimaru, and Orochimaru is the villain of Boruto: Naruto The Movie) and this mini-series is a prequel to that movie

This is off-topic but I just couldn't resist to say this.

About Uzumaki Bolt, I know a lot of people don’t like him. I think Kishi has to establish a low or not-good or not-your-usual-favorite character. Of course he has to do that because by having that way, Bolt has so much room for improvement, just like how it was before. Naruto before is weak, many think that Sasuke is WAY BETTER and STRONGER than him, which is what’s happening now. Uchiha Sarada is the one likeable, having complex mind, being smart, and the INTERESTING one, while Uzumaki Bolt is a spoiled brat who seeks his father’s attention even though he gets a bit of his attention (through Naruto’s clone). But you couldn’t really blame him. His father is PRESENT but he couldn't even spare some time for him. Do you understand how that feels. When his parent is there but cannot be there for him, where all he wants is some time with his real-not-the-clone-one father. We can never compare the pain felt by different persons because pain cannot be weighed.

Ok that's all. Sorry if it's too long.

      1. The kids will probably all graduate at the same time, so we'll hopefully find out who'll be boruto's sensei!

      2. I suspect this kid could be the child of Toneri and Hanabi, could be the reason why Hanabi was in The Last at all.

      3. I love seeing the new dynamics between the kids and children. That was what I was looking forward to the most and it's so far fulfilled my expectations.

      4. This explanation is the only reason I can see for Sasuke being gone and no one else in village telling Sarada anything (I'm looking at you Naruto!)

      5. While I thought Kishimoto made Sarada resemble Karin just as a joke and to reintroduce taka, I'm now uncertain. I have one theory about Sarada's parentage, maybe Sarada is in fact a clone of Karin and Sasuke made by Orochimaru as a next body. Sarada as a body would have the Uzumaki longevity and the sharingan. And thus Sasuke asked Sakura to look after Sarada.

      6. Sasuke must be doing something important not to see his daughter for most of her life. We didn't see taka or Orochimaru in the epilogue so his mission probably involves them. Finally I'm looking forward to Sakura's and Sarada's reaction, Sakura so far has been a bit of an enigma and Sarada will definitely be pissed off.

    • I know I am late to join the discussion of whether Karin is Sarada's mother. It kind of makes sense this might be a red herring due to evidence of the hidden photo. It could be that Sasuke and Sakura never got a formal photo done. It could be a case of simple mistaken identity since this type of drama always adds tension. It could be the case that kishimoto is borrowing a plot line from Hunter x Hunter. Gon Freese was raised by a single women that he believed was his mother, but in reality was his aunt who his father dropped him of with take care of him. Both Sasuke and Gon's father are travelers and exploring the world.

was I disrespectful to you, no the answer is no. first off I find Chocho to be nothing more then stereotypical teenage girl not very interesting. first off I'm indifferent to Boruto I don't hate him, the only characters in this entire series I hate is Kaguya, danzo, Konohamaru and black zetsu. But now that I think about it Sarada has some similarities to sasuke, but not enough to be a copy paste character imo.

to tell you the truth, the only member of the new generation I find interesting is Sarada, and even then that's not saying much.

    • This was a brilliant first chapter, Sarada's mother being Karin? Definitely a red herring. I highly doubt Karin is Sarada's mother... Why would Sakura raise a child for her suppose to be husband that is not hers whom was birthed from another lover? NO ONE WOULD DO THAT. If Karin is Sadara's mother I will lose all of the respect I have for Sakura(which is very very very little, I honestly despise Sakura).

I gained some respect for Sakura in Shippuden, but in Part 1, I didn't have any. Furthermore, isn't it Karin not Sakura whom you should lose respect for? Think about it, Karin's alive (unless she died between Ch 700 and NG Ch 1), so if she gave birth to Sarada, she pretty much just said to Sasuke "I know this is our daughter, but I don't want to raise her, so you and Sakura can take care of her. Bye". So right now, Sakura is more of a mother to Sarada then Karin is. Unless, of course, Sakura actually is the mother. There is also the possibility that Karin is dead, and since Sasuke married Sakura, well, as far as I'm concerned, Sakura's still Sarada's mother, just not biologically.

Viz publishes special issues of WSJ when the Japanese version is on break. Their issue next week is going to feature their monthly series and some "surprises," so they're probably going to announce something. Maybe the English DVD release of The Last, a limited theatrical run for Boruto, or some other announcement. Maybe English translations of some other Naruto print media -- novels, databooks, the new artbooks, or something. We'll see.

    • Something is very fishy with Sasuke. In chapter 700 when he looked into the bushes, I simply thought that he had an omen and "felt" his daughter talking about him, gut feeling. But in this chapter he once again seems paranoid that someone is following him and even has his Sharingan activated, so shrugs.

It depends. They usually have some sort of theme. Sometimes they run the new chapters for their monthly series like Blue Exorcist, Seraph of the End, and One-Punch Man. Sometimes they do a collection of things connected to a specific manga or mangaka, sometimes they do one-shots.

For example, during the Obon holiday in August 2013 they did an issue dedicated to Naruto that included a 72 page art gallery of volume covers and color spreads, the original Naruto pilot, and a short interview with Kishimoto.

Actually, there aren't many "shippers" who support or hope for Karin being the mother. The few fans this ship has are mostly very calm too. We're not going to get much of a reaction from them, just like they mostly didn't give much of a reaction when Sasuke and Sakura being confirmed to be a couple was revealed.

Yes there is, this is not any clan, to the eyes of the world this is the despicable uchiha clan (Madara and Obito), the clan that started a war that brought death to a lot of people (families) and almost destroy everything. Because of that, Konoha can't allow anyone to use that crest carelessly.

The only reason Sakura is wearing the crest is because she has been the head of the uchiha clan for 12 years, meaning that to Konoha and the world she is an uchiha.

sounds like something kishi would do, afterall since the kaguya arc this "new plot" would only require one major as*pull and that is: "where did madara leanr the fission jutsu?" ^_^

    • Or it could be Shisui.. Shisui could of found the Mountain Graveyard, replaced his right arm with a Zetsu arm and took the two best Sharingans he could find in the Lab. But back to it, Sarada was born outside of Konoha.. I'm willing to say Sakura and Sasuke needed Orochimaru and Kabuto's help to have a child and they did whatever they had to do to do it. I think Sasori's poison sword going through her upper end of her ovary caused her to be unable to make babies, even if the poison blade only nicked it. Therefor they took Sakuras eggs and Sasuke's sperm and grew her in a tank on one of Oro's bases. Karin's abilities and maybe even her blood helped the whole process.. shit maybe Karin was a surrogate who knows.

doesnt he look similar to hidan? (at least his face), than the "white-ness" reminds me of the zetsus + the sharingan which reminds me on sasuke/madara/obito/itachi/etc. so: (for me) he seems like a mix out of hidan fused with zetsu + sharngan eyes ^_^

No, another thread will not be made and if you don't want spoilers, you shouldn't even be using the discussion thread. This wiki will always have spoilers, if you don't want them, then don't use either the wiki or the forums. I assumed Kris.gilson was complaining about spoilers of a previous chapter. I was not aware that users were using this thread to discuss the second chapter, or that any chapter was released today: this should have been brought to someone's attention sooner, or the new chapter thread made.

Kris.gilson.12 wrote: So tell me, as a Forum Operator, why aren't you keeping this discussion on topic?

I don't have time to look at the detail of every single post. Users are expected to report issues to a forum moderator or operator via the requests page, they should not complain publically in a thread or make jibes at forum moderators for not noticing things, we have lives you know. I see Windy already pointed out the issue, but it still doesn't give free license to complain in the thread.

Sakura being so obsessed with Sasuke to the point of wearing the Uchiha crest is absolutely retarded and more "fanon" than Sakura being the head of the Uchiha(which she is). I love how you fail to see that I addressed ALL of your points. He may be on a secret mission. What part of SECRET don't you understand? Sakura and the rest of the last gen nin may have known about Sasuke's whereabouts. Sakura is obviously dodging Sarada's question

    • I think the simplest solution to the sadara problem is that she was an "accident" of sasuke + Sakura. Sasuke left before Sakura found out she was pregnant and lied about marriage to avoid difficult questions and honor stuff. Because i think it's weird that Sasuke, MR "im an uchiha", would show such little interest in the only heir of the Uchiha clan. It leaves open the possibility that they quickly got married before he left, but in secret.

    • Another possibility for Sarada: Karin acted as a surrogate or donor mother.

Sasuke settled with Sakura. Karin couldn't have Sasuke. Maybe something happened to Sakura to where she couldn't have children. Something was happening to Karin where she wouldn't be competition for Sakura (dying, prison, new job). Both girls were quite intent on continuing the Uchiha clan.

So ... Sakura and Sauske get married. Karin agrees to get knocked up so Sakura can play mommy.

Maybe the reason why Sasuke has been gone so long is that he's still squicked out by the whole thing.

Sasuke left before Sakura found out she was pregnant and lied about marriage to avoid difficult questions and honor stuff. Because i think it's weird that Sasuke, MR "im an uchiha", would show such little interest in the only heir of the Uchiha clan. It leaves open the possibility that they quickly got married before he left, but in secret.

this wont work because sakura said that sasuke left while sarada was a baby, that means that he was still together with sakura until she was born, he left after that ^_^

    • Well since the Uchiha Clan was wiped out I was hoping that Sasuke was going to bang both Karin and Sakura. I mean they both wanted his Dick and he still has the entire Uchiha Complex back at the Leaf Village where he lived even after the Massacre. So its not like he couldn't afford it.

i guess that only makes it weirder. I can't help but feel that this is either the weirdest red herring or biggest WTF moment we'll ever see.

i still hope that they say that it was something like a super-secret mission which was forbidden to talk about for whatever reason, maybe the stuff with kaguya should be a secret and since sasuke mission involved her it was forbidden to talk about it or give any hints :)

    • I want to know what is the deal with Sarada and Sakura because my opinion of Sasuke was never very favorable to begin with because Kishimoto gave him a free pass for all the things he did, and now comes the suspicion of two-timing with Sakura.

I would hate to see this with Sakura because the girl actually put up with this crap with Sasuke for a while, and he actually doesn't deserve to have anybody love him but she stood by him for whatever reason because who would bother with such a person like him.

Sarada is the most to be affected by all of this because he is hardly ever at home to begin with, and if the question begs that she is not related to Sakura but I hope that I am wrong about this because I will start bashing him again like when the original series started.

Sasuke has a long way to ago even if he has cleared up his name and Clan because he won't ever be like Naruto or his brother Itachi he still is a long way from achieving this.

    • I hope this to happen but wouldn't be ironic if Sarada falls for Bolt in this series since the Uchiha haven't gotten along very well with the Uzumaki, and the ties that she has with Sakura because it would be irony indeed.
