  • As usual, no illegal links and HAHA YOU THOUGHT I WAS DONE MAKING EPISODE THREADS DIDN'T YOU

Here's our weekly reminder that Naruto is, amongst other things, the Lord and Savior of 70% of the other characters.

...did Matsuri really ask Shira/Kenshiro (and he really wore that goddamn suit) to fight her? Does she know nothing about the Seven Heavenly Breaths/Hundred Crack Fist?!

And we just watched a man commit seppuku. Either way, complete cop-out ending. That's what happens when you try to squeeze in a filler: this concept could have been really great, but Studio Pierrot just made it an opportunity to extend the series and try to make some more money, I guess.

Pretty morbid ending for Ajisai, though. I hope Kakuzu beat the fuck out of Fu's annoying ass, and of course...it's implied that Naruto was able to jump straight from Genin to Hokage.

    • Praise Hagoromo the filler arc has ended. The 2 things that everyone was hoping to see in this episode were Fu's capture and Ajisai death. But instead, they showed us a boring conversation between Gaara and Fugi.... Just glad we're getting back to cannon next week.

        Loading editor
    • Hmm, I wonder what S-rank mission Konan tasked Ajisai to...and screw SP for showing nothing of Fū vs. Kakuzu.

        Loading editor
    • Crap episode was crap. All the possibly interesting parts either happened off-screen or didn't happen at all. Why bother introducing Fu in the arc and not show her fighting seriously, or her being captured?

    • I sorta enjoyed this episode though, it was a solid ending to the filler. I really love when Gaara does his "Talk no Jutsus", it gives life! Haha anyway what i found funny was that Gaara talked Fugi to death- literally, which is ironic cuz usually his speeches are uplifting.

Basically what I gather from this filler is that Gaara can practically do Sand techniques from any distance, and once you are in a sand area or desert, he can find you.

    • i personally love fuu's personality

and NeedleJizo the chunin exams are simply a method of testing a shinobi's skills but there is no better test than warfare

its called a wartime promotion since he saved the world its only logical that he was given a double promotion

more over in all likely hood all the survivors of the war who were chunin were likely made jonin

    • I still like this filler though, not as good as the 12 guardian one or the three tails one but this was still good, I liked how you seen how fuu got captured and what happened to aijsai

    • Hated it.

"Yeah, we don't need a third stage as we are all buddies now and don't need to fight, it's old and obsolete. The second stage where you tried to drown your enemies in quicksand was legit though. GG everyone"

"Want to see the full fight between Matsuri and Shira? Want to see Ajisai's and Fuu's deaths? Want to see some cool Hidan-Kakuzu-combination after such a long time? Want to see the opposition leader to NOT commit suicide after talk no jutsu? Yeah well nope, screw you and your hopes."

Seriously, in hindsight, this arc was not the worst in terms of visual quality and so on, but it was the one with the most wasted opportunities. If an arc begins and you know from the beginning "okay, this does not look so promising, but let's just bear with it", then you know what you get and can accept it more or less. But if an arc starts with an interesting concept, you get hyped just to be massively let down in the end. Something that obviously could've been done well but was sullied by half-assedness is worse than something that was bad from the very beginning.

Can't wait for the next arc, would be awesome if it comes right after Kaguya appeared...

Yea that bothered me the most by far.

"We're friends right" shortly after numerous kids being encouraged to murder eachother... no. Also, i think the suicide is one of the darkest moments of the series so far. Because it's ok to talk your enemies into committing suicide.

"But if an arc starts with an interesting concept, you get hyped just to be massively let down in the end." It's an awesome concept but thoroughly ruined. It had some highs (putting some attention for Tenten was nice) and quite a few lows (in the end tenten's just as useful *cough* and everyone being oblivious to her was extremely painful to watch.

Oh and i just realized: Gaara also talked Fu to death (just be friends with any stranger! it'll work out!), and the Hidden Rain girl too (but more indirectly).

So basically it's an extremely dark episode.

    • You know, Filler arcs as important as this one (oxymoron, I know) would have been better served coming immediately after the Rescue Gaara arc, or after Sasuke and Naruto's fight. I mean this is the story people want to know, learning how Sakura and the others got promoted. or how Fu bit the dust.

That said, I am not sure this filler arc is entirely over, or that we are done with fillers. it will probably make a reappearance when Kaguya surfaces or before the final fight.

Judging from the intro, i'd say it goes to Kaguya and then a new filler.

    • Farewell, Chunin exams arc after this huge disappointment that we get from it. This episode proves that this arc has been rushed harshly.

Next time, it's better for Studio Pierrot to plan for doing a filler arc as early as possible as seen in Chikara and Kakashi Anbu arcs.

Or, if they're going to do a filler, just focus on the story and don't extend it with pointless battles and unneeded character development.

    • I mean, they spent 2 episodes each on an irrelevant Kusa team/Team 8, unneeded Sakura development, but not any more than 3 minutes on Fū/Akatsuki, Ajisai's death, the village politics that were introduced in the beginning. Even more Hebi Sasuke adventures would've been way more interesting. It's really disappointing. Also, does anyone else think Konan orchestrated Ajisai's demise?

      You summed up it perfectly!

Also, Episode Rating: 0.5/10. Doesn't even deserve a 1. Am I harsh? No, I'm reasonable, and this episode is the biggest load of c__p I've ever seen. Pierrot sure do know how to let peoples' expectations down further than humanly possible.

    • Kishi is instinctively face-palming somewhere right now. I felt that this filler arc was useless. At least with the Utakata's arc we got to see his capture. If I had to pick a jinchuriki to make a filler arc out of it would been Yagura as we could of seen some shinobi politicking antics at least. Oh well.

    • I seem to be the only one who loved this episode... ._. I mean, was all the stuff everyone was looking forward skipped? Yes, but we had known it will have for a while now. It was in order to be disappointed a week ago about it being rushed, not when it was already acknowledged it would be.

    • Oy, this filler arc was as long as the Paradise Life on a Boat with 20 full episodes of nothing but waiting before the battle against Madara would resume. At least it was a good thing there was third exam as that would have been more irritating.

Hopefully with all these months of waiting by now I am sure that things are planned out for adapting the remaining manga chapters which is the only apparent reason why this filler arc had to be used first.

We saw Utakata's capture, but the actual fight was only shown in the filler flashback we got when Naruto met Edo Utakata in the anime. So even in that filler arc, we didn't quite see what we wanted.

Which is why there's hope on a filler for these fights. Maybe after Kaguya battle. Or to be input on a game after STORM series. Maybe the Jinchuriki Saga. Like Naruto Storm Generation where there are characters focused story. I hope they make it for the jinchurikis too. I'd buy that.

    • .... <_< .... >_>

      I liked it.

Don't get me wrong, there was a lot missed, but there's only so much you can fit into one episode, and if the fan backlash on this arc was nearly as bad as it's been here, I wouldn't of expected them to extend it to show us the stuff you wanted to see.

I really liked Fu, she was adorable.

Shira was okay, him in the leotard was the most hilarious thing ever.

I actually liked that Fugi was convinced by Gaara through words rather than action, it shows that Gaara changed and such. Fugi was interesting, it seems like you could've gotten a lot more mileage outta him, but I don't think the seppuku thing came off that bad either.

Find it hilarious Komugi's team was in the office just to be turned down, but it does provide an interesting note towards my Chunin exam data, as it means they're the only Konoha team besides the main lot to actually make it to the second exam... Either that or the others that did are dead.

    • I loved Fu and I wish I could have seen her fight and even demise. I also wanted to see Ajisai's death. I do think it's suspicious that Konan sent Ajisai and her team on an S-rank mission right after getting promoted to Chunin.

Overall, I did like this arc more than most people. I didn't like seeing the long Lee/Shira fight. The two episodes with Team 8 were dragged out but I liked the Kusa team. What I didn't like was the flashbacks. It dragged it out more than necessary. But the chunin exams where everybody was promoted was something that I wanted to see for a long time.

    • HATED this episode.

      Ajisai's death. Fu vs. Kakuzu

      WHERE WAS IT ALL!?

        Loading editor
    • Well I would be lying if I wanted to see a 3rd round 1 on 1 fights. I kind of guessed we wouldn't have that since all the 1 on 1 fights happened during the 2nd task. Huzzah for not doing a 3rd round of repeated fights!

NO FUU death!! All I have to say is FUU YOU! (See what I did there.) How stupid is she to walk up to Kakuzu and Hidan who has been chasing her! WHAT! I honestly was waiting for Kakuzu to just stab her in the chest right there.

Ajisai.... so disappointing. Potentially getting an origin on one of the paths of Pain wasted!

    • I watched 413 today, and holy s**t, the worst possible episode EVER! and i mean it. SP literally made me lost in total, at least 2h of my life watching c**p. Probably i will became a Obito of life in this series, and bomb that studio staff.

    • Finally watched it. Good ridden to this waste of an arc. Had so much potential. If they cut out all the Naruto appreciation, needless talking, being helpless but somehow do what they could have done already, and instead added better fight scenes, expanded on things that would've been more interesting, be consistent, lesser flashbacks, then it could've been a way better arc.

What was Matsuri really thiking of challenging Shira thoigh. No offense but she sucks, Shira doesn't. I laughed after hearing her challenge. Ultimately the third exam was deemed unnecessary because Gaara seen not that they showed strength and courage but that they show compassion and loyalty to allies and enemies. Thanks ninja logic, not. Almost everyone got promoted to Chunin. And Im sorry if Im the onky one to believe thus but Neji was only given jōnin because he saved Gaara's pathetic self. We don't even know what mission Team Ajisai went on, but we know Ajisai is dead. Kakuzu meets Fū and ultimately captures her but what I would like to know is if her bodyguards die? How well she fought? Did she transform into her Jinchūriki state? I wouldn't this was the worst episode. I enjoyed it for the fact that it was finally ending. Anime makers need to get get their s**t together. I am one to enjoy fillers but they've been getting crappier, whether it was from the beginning or ended. For this particular arc, it ended horribly, starting from Team Kurensi's time.

    • What's laughable that the animators couldn't spare a decent screentime for all those fights that we hadn't seen but spared enough time for TWO+ set-up episodes and TWO First Exam episodes (which was basically "math" (and I say this loosely))

Despite that, I look at this filler as a way to save some budget for animation when it returns to canon. But even that doesn't repent for this filler's sins.

No clue, we don't know what their plans are. And the anime won't just end when it catches up with the manga either.

I expect an extended filler arc after the main storyline ends....like what we had after the Sasuke Retrieval Arc.

well even with the manga and Naruto Gaiden, there's still plenty to resolve. So it doesn't have to be a bad thing.

What annoys me about this arc is that it started pretty strong but the entire Demon Desert arc just fell flat and then kept falling.
