  • If I remembered correctly, in the latest episode, Indra used a Lightning Release jutsu, with the hand signs: Ox, Rabbit, and Monkey. Isn't this the hand signs for Chidori and Lightning Cutter? If so, is it possible that Kakashi actually didn't invent this jutsu, but reinventing it? Or can the same set of hand signs be used to create different jutsus?

    • Identical jutsu's can use the same set of hand signs. Best example is Water Release: Wild Water Wave & Water Release: Water Trumpet.

    • If this technique worked the same as the Chidori/Raikiri, It might just be that Kakashi had the same idea as Indra, in the same way, Sandaime Raikage's [Jigokuzuki] work more or less like the Chidori, it is a lighting blade focus around the user's hand. It is also not the only case of similar techniques as stated above.

    • Chidori is simply a lightning infused Jab thats all. Kakashi tried to add Lightning release to a rasengan and failed so he created chidori instead. just because indra had a lightning based attack with the same hand signs doesn't mean it is the same jutsu.

But the fact that they showed Indra doing those exact hand signs, and Sasuke being his reincarnation who also knows a similar looking jutsu that uses those hand signs, makes it seem like there's a connection. Or else they could've easily let Indra do those hand signs off screen, do a different combination of hand signs, or even use an entirely different jutsu. This also appears to be the case with Asura using that jutsu that looks like Rasengan.

Of course there's a connection, that being Studio Pierrot lacking any concept of subtlety and being extremely heavy-handed in creating similarities between Indra and Sasuke, and Asura and Naruto.

But this could potentially be explained, unlike the Indra with Sasuke MS design thing.
