  • This would be an awesome filler fight to possibly see, since there is not much to say about Fugaku or Sakumo's abilities, and it would be cool to see Minato during the chunin exam.

    • Not much to go on, but it was said that Sakumo was far stronger than the sannin. Don't really know what the Chunin exams have to do with this. Would be interesting to see Sakumo's abilities in a filler though.

    • I was referring to a young Minato in the chunin exams, and a possible battle between Minato and Fugaku or Sakumo. the point I sorta failed to explain was that it could possibly show what Fugaku or Sakumo are truly capable of, because of the lack of information regarding their abilities, and seeing a young Minato in the chunin exams sounds exciting to watch

    • He wasn't stated to be FAR stronger than the Sannin, he was said to be on par, (Which is doubtful, Orochimaru and Jiraiya would definetly wreck him)

It was stated his own reputation alone rivaled the Sannin. And in some translations it says his reputation overshadowed theirs. Idk, either one, it means he would probably beat any of them one on one.

      Where does that say?

    • Sakumo is way way older than Minato. Why would he fight him in the chunin exams? The timeline doesn't fit.

    • If Sakumo is on par with the Sannin, then obviously him. I don't know Fugaku's abilities so I can't really judge him. And though I love Minato and he's extremely fast in his prime, he is still a Genin at this time. So Sakumo.

Actually no, he wasn't. Sakumo's reputation rivaled the Sannin. Considering the Sannin's name came from fighting Hanzo, i'm not sure what that even means.

Apparently,Hanzo acknowledged the Sannin and that's why he called them Sannin.

That's what i meant, yea. But then, is the Sannin's reputation thanks to that feat alone, or is it all their accumulated reputation? Does Sakumo's reputation exceed that of their fight against Hanzo? Or is it his accumulated reputation versus their accumulated reputation?

Furthermore, the Sannin broke up somewhere after the 2nd war. Jiraiya became a writer mostly who did only spying work, so his reputation would go into obscurity. Orochimaru went AWOL, so aside from a bad reputation he wouldn't be that well known anymore. Tsunade left and became a gambler. Is Sakumo more well-known because he kept fighting aferwards when they did not? Was it that he was involved in more high-profile cases?

Well. The title comes from Hanzo. One of the strongest Shinobi of the era before paranoia rusted him. This made them more famous and the name stuck. Their titles just added to their already renown reputation. Jiraiya was stated to turn down the Hokage position shortly after the war, and they chose Minato over Orochimaru (Another Hokage prospect) instead. So although it was a title, their abilities were Kage Caliber, and already had fame since they were prospects to be Hokage.

        Loading editor
    • ^When was Orochimaru another Hokage prospect? Jiraiya clearly turned down the deal to become Hokage because he said,he doesn't fit for it. I don't remember Orochimaru being a Hokage prospect.

        Loading editor
    • "For his performance during the War, Minato was chosen over Orochimaru to become Fourth Hokage.[21]" And the reason why Jiraiya turned it down isn't relevant. He was Kage caliber is the only point.

        Loading editor
    • ^Jiraiya clearly said that he doesn't fit for it. He was the candidate for the Fifth Hokage,by the way.

    • "Gutsy Shinobi did not sell well when it was released. Minato - selected as Konoha's Fourth Hokage after Jiraiya refused the position[18]" Jiraiya's Wiki Page.

This was after the Third War. There was about three prospects. Orochimaru, Minato, and Jiraiya. They choose Jiraiya and he turns them down, reasons aren't stated why. Hiruzen then chooses Minato over Orochimaru.

Also. Just cause he turned them down, doesn't mean anything. You only get selected to become Hokage if you're one of the strongest. Jiraiya was Kage caliber because they chose him to be Hokage, he denied them. He just liked his freedom, liked writing, and chasing girls.

I believe Orochimaru's geniusnees was enough for him to be a Hokage by Sarutobi, but it was his evilness and greed or something like that, that led Saru to chose another candidate, and that was Jiraya.

To be honest, had Oro not been evil, he would have actually been quite a hokage. In terms of intellegence and being able to sway people to join his side, even though they knew his evilness, they still somehow believed all the way. Who knows, maybe this newly turned Oro might be the next Hokage. XD

Anyways, the sannin weren't obviously as powerful in the past, as they were presently in the show. We don't know about what Sakumu did, but he was known and feared as the white fang, so that has to be something, lol, Though, I wonder what feiled of shinobi made Sakumo that famous. Can he just be a more powerful version of Kakashi without the Sharingan? Or is some specific amazing jutsu that only he knew?

There's not much so complicated on that part. A kunai is marked with a special mark, expect Minato to pop up beside the Kunai. It's when you don't know about the FTG, that it becomes fatal. Izuna clearly did not know of Tobirama's FTG, so he didn't prepare himself accordinally, which led to him unable to react. There's not much to think about, just don't let a kunai with a special mark get around you, or near you, and you're safe.

What?Izuna was blinded by the smokescreen.Stop being intellectually dishonest.Tobirama>>>>Minato in FTG lethality.Minato advantage is his marks never disappear and he integrated the marks in his godly kunai.Stop mixing the two:FTG and Flying thunder god slash are two different things.Tobirama comes from a blindspot to finish of the enemy.

The sharingan can see chakra through any obstructions that aren't themselves chakra based. So no, Izuna didn't lose because of the smoke, he lost because he overestimated his eye's abilities and undersetimated the effectiveness of Tobirama's FTG and natural speed.

Also, Minato is better with FTG than Tobirama

Tobirama can attack from blindspot as per Databook.Minato cannot do that.Even Madara cannot dodge it was it a full power Tobirama with Sage mode.

Minato vs Obito, Minato attacked from a blindspot. Huh? Tobirama never had SM.

Minato never attacked from blindspot. He used ftg level 2.Why couldnt minato replicate the same elsewhere?like tobirama?By 'sage mode' I meant Madara with hashirama sage mode barely dodged it.

Have no idea what you are saying now. But both Tobirama and Minato used FTG to attack the blindspot. So it doesn't make sense that you are saying one didn't.

As in other threads, if you don't have an argument, you resort to this behavior.

As for the topic at hand. Hard to say who would win as both Sakumo and Fugaku have largely unknown abilities. As pointed out by @Lone, this is genin Minato, so it is also unknown if he has FTG at this point. Too many unknown variables at this point.

    • @Ninja Of War

As in every other thread, when you can't deduce an argument, you resort to this childish attitude.Sad.

As for the topic minato could win by feats alone since the duo are basically featless but considering he is the head of uchiha, his speed might be so high it could crack minato's trash ftg mid way.Sakumo also craps by hype alone.

    • Minato did attack again from someone's blindspot like he did with Obito, minus instead of Rasengan it was with a Kunai, possibly because Rasengan wasn't invented yet. He did it against Ay, and Bee saved him. Ay was unable to react at his fastest.

        Loading editor
    • @LoneNinja yeah difference is Tobirama teleports with a cutting motion towards the enemy.Minato appears then takes his kunai and cuts.
