  • In my honest opinion, Chojuro is not Kage level. All he has is the sword Hiramekarei, while it makes him competent take that away and he is just an average shinobi with potent kenjutsu skills. I am aware that Suigetsu deserted the mist village but im pretty sure it can be forgiven(Sasuke's case), plus i'm sure they can use all the help they can get. If we are talking merit in terms of power, the second strongest Mist ninja other than Mei Terumi is Suigetsu and he would mop the floor with Chojuro.

Honestly the only true competent swordmen of the mist were Zabuza, Kisame, Mangetsu(Suigetsu’s brother) and Suigetsu, also Shizuma(to an extent). The rest were just swordmen that were nothing without their swords.

If it was up to me, Suigetsu should replace Chojuro as Mizukage and Kagura should come after that.

    • Kage is not a position determined by strength. It's decided by one's capacity to lead. Suigetsu is the worst leader out there, whereas Chojuro had shown some resolve and capacity as a ninja and could easily bloom into a ninja. Being a Swordsman in the village of Swordsmen would also give him some respect.

    • I said that Chojuro is not Kage level, while i recognize that being a kage is not just up to power, i am just bringing the fact that on a power basis Suigetsu is more worthy of that post than Chojuro. You are not wrong though.

    • Suigetsu is last person to lead the Hidden Mist, He betrayed the Village, Has no record of trustworthiness and was found guilty of sabotaging 5 kage summit along with the Uchiha Criminal Sasuke Uchiha. He is the last possible candid for being Kage, not to mention he is right now Orochimaru's Nurse.

    • Mei liked Chojuro and Suigetsu did some criminal/rogue activity via with Hebi/Taka. I don't think it'd be realistic if Suigetsu was the Mizukage considered he did rogue activity, sure,he can be the Mizukage's attendant. Another thing is Kishimoto never focused on the Mist during Shippuden. And I don't think Suigetsu would be fit for Mizukage and he wouldn't agree due to his likes and dislikes. He is also serving Orochimaru. Furthermore,Suigetsu doesn't have the leadership skills and has never leaded anyone. I think Suigetsu shouldn't be Mizukage.

    • Even excluding his criminal past, there would've been no reason for Suigestu to become Kage. He doesn't fit the mold at all. And plus he pretty much became a coward kind of comedic character in later apperances, so there is no way that i could take him seriously as Kage at least.

pretty much this. a real kage has knowledge, is wise, willing to sacrifice things for others, etc. suigetsu is none of those, except for the fact that kage ALSO NEEDS POWERS TO DO ALL OF THE ABOVE, meaning that chojuro is not the best choice either. BUT/AND YET, CHOJURO HAS, FIRST AND FOREMOST, THE WILL OF FIRE (OR WATER, IN THIS CASE), WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT GOES PURELY AGAISNT SUIGETSU.

    • I dont see how Chojiro is weak... he was one of the 7 Swordsmen, all of whom were high Jonin-Kage level fighters.

The main point here I think is that Chojuro hasn't shown anything (yet) but his swordmanship. As it is now, should he lose Hiramekarei - or pass it to Kagura - he will lose his only source of true strength.

I honestly think he is a good leader, as was shown up to now in Boruto, but as a matter of strength he has yet to show he is truly Kage level.

Said so, Suigetsu would probably be an even worse choice as Mizukage. Not only he does not have any of the good quality a leader has, he don't strike me as a so powerful character even

    • 3/4 of the current kage have not shown leadership or strength of kage. I dont so why Chojuro suddenly sucks for his position.

    • With the exception of Gaara and Naruto, the current Kage are the weakest there have been, yeah.

    • Idk about weak.. they nearly killed Kinshiki and it was pretty brutal. His arm skin was peeling off, he had stab wounds all over him and he was burned from the lava release that then solidified on him. I'm sure the 3rd Raikage would kill Kinshiki, maybe even the 4th Raikage.. but Rasa? no, and Mei? no.. MAYBE Onoki could if his back didn't get in his way as all he needs is ONE dust release to connect.

Well, I'm not that sure... I don't think a sharinganless Kakashi is that more powerful than Darui, and honestly Mei didn't strike me as a so great kunoichi (compared with the other Kage)... Also, we did not see so much feats of the three of them (Darui, Kurotsuchi and Chojuro) even if... yes, I can't honestly see them hold their own against any of the predecessors that were shown to us (Mei aside, as I said)

    • Nah, even mei is stronger than chojuro and the other chick. The only one that seems to be actual kage lvl, and not just high jonin lvl is darui (ish), Gaara and Naruto.

    • It's unfair to consider other kage being weak since we watch the hokage the most, and they seem to be a lineage of gods. Chojuro doesn't seem like he is a bad fighter either since we can't judge because of lack of appearances and the fact that Hidden Mist values swordsmanship above all else and he was one of the 7. Suigetsu is a talented swordsman, but he just took the sword not earned it, it's not difficult robbing a grave.

    • I agree, the Hokage are always deemed the strongest among the kage & the series has focused on them the most, so our perception of Kage level is pretty skewed towards the high end, not to mention Naruto being a congruence of various OP bloodlines + jinchuriki of the strongest non-fused tailed beast. Darui seems like a foil to Kakashi being trained by a previous Kage(he learned black lightning from the third raikage), laid back demeanor, & he can boast being a former right hand/bodyguard for his predecessor. Gaara got enough showing to be proven to be Kage level. Kurosutchi is where the problems begin, we were shown some of her abilities but what probably pushed her up to being Tsuchikage is her lineage. Kishi making her the best genjutsu user among the 5 Kage is making up for the lack of feat showing. Problem with Chojiro is that we don't get to see his growth from start to finish. While Naruto & co were maturing, Chojiro was going through his own tale of from being a scared ninja with notable talent in Kenjutsu to being strong in character & ability to be Mizukage. It hurts that we got a much more impressive showing from the 2nd Mizukage, aka Awesomekage, to the point that he was arguably strong enough to beat 2 Kage backed up by platoons of shinobi.

I have no doubt that Chojiro grew into a powerful shinobi, but given that this is a hidden leaf village focused franchise, we don't get to see his story before our eyes. Kind of wish they would use the novels for that. Give us the stories of other villages that the main stuff(boruto manga & anime) doesn't have time for.

    • The main problem is that we don't see enough of Chojuro's abilities to see him as a world level power, the same goes for Kurotsuchi, as neither had a huge personal battle in the 4th war to establish their powerlvl and personal growth, Darui kinda had that against the gold and silver brothers.

We do see some of what Suigetsu's capable of, but his powerlvl put him at jonin lvl, not kage. Besides, being a known failure at a mission, having betrayed his village and serving orochimaru, would pretty much disqualify him from being elected kage, even in Kiri which traditionally elected the strongest warrior (look at page, leadership abilities are a bonus, but not a canon requirement for Kirigakure).

a thing strikes me as funny, there's a peculisar contrast between chojuro and suigetsu in their personal development, where the latter started out as "mister fealess", threatening Sasuke out of the blue, taking on Jugo, Suigetsu became more cowardly over time. Chojuro is the exact opposite, starts out as nervous and insecure but becomes more brave as time passes.

but bottomline: Suigetsu replacing Chojuro as kage, unrealistic.
