Changes: Ultimately Hard Absolute Defence: Shield of Shukaku

This defensive technique is formed by Gaara to create a toy-like replica of Shukaku wearing a wide-brimmed rural hat, that is roughly thrice the size of Gaara. Because the replica is formed under extreme pressure and is built of the strongest minerals Gaara could derive from the earth, it is virtually indestructible, having yet to be penetrated by any force. As the name of the technique implies, this is Gaara`s strongest defence.

In the anime, the attack variant of the Shield of Shukaku is the Ultimately Hard Absolute Attack: Spear of Shukaku.
This jutsu maybe a nod to a an anecdote, 矛盾 (むじゅん, mujun), found in Han Feizi, c. 2nd century BC, illustrating a contradiction. "楚人有鬻楯與矛者譽之曰吾楯之堅莫能陷也又譽其矛曰吾矛之利於物無不陷也或曰以子之矛陷子之楯何如其人弗能應也". There was a man in Chu who sold shields and halberds. Praising them he said: 'My shields are so strong that nothing can pierce them.' And praising the halberds he said: 'My halberds are so strong that there is nothing that they can not pierce.' A person asked: 'What if someone pierces your shields with your halberds?' He could not respond.
