Hi, i was just wondering if there were a reason, besides him saying so, why Son Gokū is called Son instead of Gokū when addressed with one name instead of his full name. I take it that Son is probably not ment as a family name (even tough it is for the "real" Son Goku, who is called Goku, as im sure you know) since tailed beasts dont have a family per se, so what is it? To me it could look like a case similar to Rock Lee or Might Guy, but those we do call Lee and Guy respectly. Im not that familier with japanese, but is there a reason for him to be called Son? im not saying that we should change anything, cause i think it is right with Son, mainly cause he said so himself, i was simply wondering why. If this is the wrong place to ask this, im sorry, but you just seems to be the guy that knows stuff about japaneese language and culture. --[[User:Cosmikaze|Cosmikaze]] ([[User talk:Cosmikaze|talk]]) 02:12, January 16, 2012 (UTC)

Ultimate Ninja Impact Techniques

Using the links I left at the game's talk page, I looked up on the technique names from it so articles could be made about them. I've made an attempt on translating them, and out of the ones which debuted in the game, I think I managed a good portion of them. Could you proof-read them and take a look on the ones I didn't get? Most of those are from A and B, so dictionaries weren't very helpful, though some of the sites I linked have description of the attacks. For the ones I've seen and remember what they do exactly, I'll put a brief description in case it can provide help seeing a pun or something that might be an influence in the name.

Four-Tails Naruto
Earth Attacking Claw (土襲爪, Doshūsō? Dojūsō? Doshūzume?): This is a tailed beast chakra arm technique, specifically the move Naruto did when putting them through the ground trying to catch Orochimaru.
Absolute Artillery (絶火砲, Zetsu Kahō?): Kinda like a watered down, rapid-fire Tailed Beast Ball.
Roaring Air Cannon/Air Roaring Cannon (気吼砲, Kikōhō?): Tailed Beast Sonic Roar. Might actually be worth renaming, since I think this is the first time a game named this.
Seaweed Full Moon? (玉藻月輪, Tamamo Getsurin?): No idea on what this is, never managed finding a gameplay video showing it. Sites where I got this say this is can only be performed when in mid-air.
Sage Mode Naruto
Ground Dividing (地面割り, Jimenwari): Reminds me of Heavenly Foot of Pain.
Six-Tails Naruto
Hollow Canine Destroying Cannon (虚狗滅砲, Kokumehō): just another name variation of one of the old game names for the Tailed Beast Ball, will probably list it in its trivia section.
Sakura
Quaking Leg (震脚, Shinkyaku): Kick to the ground with the heel, but no jumping before it.
Righteous Fist Thrust (正拳突き, Seikentsuki): Strong punch.
Initiation/Instruction: Heavenly Foot of Pain (伝授・痛天脚, Denju: Tsūtenkyaku)
Cherry Blossom Violent/Furious Impact (桜花烈衝, Ōkaretsushō)
Kakashi
Flash Brushing? (閃払, Senfutsu?): An upwards punch, kinda like the one Naruto defeated Neji with in the Chūnin Exams, but without coming from underground.
Lee
Leaf Hurricane (木ノ葉疾風, Konoha Shippū)
Leaf Windstorm (木ノ葉暴風, Konoha Bōfū)
Leaf Roaring Flame Hurricane (木ノ葉轟炎疾風, Kohoha Gōen Shippū): Fancy flaming kick with lots of spinning.
Leaf Flash Shield? (木ノ葉閃障, Konoha Senshō?): No idea what it looks like. Site with the name says: 砂塵をまきあげて攻撃.
Hinata
Eight Trigrams Twin Lion Palms (八卦双獅掌, Hakke Sōshishō)
Shikamaru
Explosive Kunai (起爆クナイ, Kibaku Kunai): The trick Shikamaru did with kunai and his jacket against Temari in Part I, but with explosive tags attached.
Shadow Sewing Technique: Piercing Shadow (影縫いの術・貫影, Kagenui no Jutsu: Kanei)
Shadow Sewing Technique: Round Shadow (影縫いの術・円影, Kagenui no Jutsu: Enei): There might be a pun here. I've seen both forms in pages, though I'd have to check in gameplay videos to make sure which is the last kanji, if the quality is good enough.
Drop Style Explosive Tag (落式起爆札, Rakushiki Kibaku Fūda): Fancier 起爆クナイ.
Shadow Sewing Technique: Wild (影縫いの術・乱, Kagenui no Jutsu: Ran): AoE technique, shadow version of Certain-Kill Ice Spears, but with all the spikes pointing towards the same point, making a "tent" over Shikamaru.
Guy
Leaf Strong Rising Wind (木ノ葉剛力昇風, Konoha Gōriki Shōfū)
Leaf Strong Great Whirlwind (木ノ葉剛力大旋風, Konoha Gōriki Daisenpū)
Youth Slide(r?) (青春スライダー, Seishun Suraidā)
Jiraiya
Summoning: Gama Loyalty (口寄せ・ガマ忠, Kuchiyose: Gamachū): Summoning: Food Cart Destroyer Technique-like with Gama.
Danzō
Great Tree World Method (大樹界法, Taiju Kaihō): The big tree he made to change the direction of Sasuke's Susanoo's arrow.
Wind Release: Vacuum Baku Sphere (風遁・真空獏玉, Fūton: Shinkū Bakudama): Puts Baku behind opponent, uses Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere.
Minato
Hurricane Revolving Kick (疾風旋蹴, Shippū Senshū)
Flying Swallow Flash (飛燕閃光, Hien Senkō): Body Flickers through opponents very fast hitting them.
Flash Rasengan (閃光螺旋丸, Senkō Rasengan)
Gaara
Quicksand Violent Immersion (流砂暴浸/流砂暴侵, Ryūsa Bōshin): The kanji that changes have very similar meanings, I've seen both forms in Japanese sites.
Dust Cloud Sandstorm (風塵砂嵐, Fūjin Sunaarashi)
Shell of Sand (砂の殻, Suna no Kara): The Sphere of Sand page that got redirected to Shield of Sand a while ago, but with a dash of Human Bullet Tank in it.
A
Rising??? (雷神愚熱覇勝斗, Raijin ???): Appears to be an uppercut. Description in site is "電撃をまとったアッパー".
B
Lightning Release Pencil (雷遁えんぴつ, Raiton Enpitsu): B's "pencil is mightier" he used against Kisame.
裟真亜剃斗: Description in site is "サマーソルトで打上".
武零駆断擂/武零駆断ス: Description in site is "両手両脚に刀で高速回転".
Lightning Revolving Attack? (雷回転熱斗駆, Raikaiten Atoku/Atōku?): Description is "7本の刀で突進".
Lightning ??? (雷斗忍具襲投, Raitoningu ???): Description in site is "7本の刀を地面にむかってなげる".
Lightning Bolt (雷斗忍具菩流斗, Raitoningu Baruto?): Description from site (7本の刀でふれると発動) matches description from that article and game play videos.
Version 2 Form B
崙虜火音: seems to be a lesser tailed beast sonic roar.
Itachi
Shadow Clone: Wind Dance (影分身・風舞, Kage Bunshin: Kazamai)
真経津: From what I could tell, this might be something with the Yata Mirror.
Konan
Heavenly Paper Reincarnation (天紙転生, Tenshi Tensei)
Confetti (紙吹雪, Kamifubuki)
Distant Returning Paper? (遠返紙, Enhenshi?): Throws three of those paper cranes that are said to grant wishes if you fold a thousand.
Paper Drizzle (紙時雨, Kami Shigure)
Paper Taking Thrust? (紙納突, Kami Noka?): No idea, never saw gameplay of it.
Deva Path
Banshō Ten'in: Ground Motion (万象天引・地動, Banshō Ten'in: Jidō): Takes boulder from the ground.
Tobi
Imaginary Turned Absorption? (虚吸転身, Kokyū Tenshin?): Never saw footage of it either.
Fire Release: Inflaming World? (火遁・炎殺界, Katon: Ensakkai?): Same as above.
Sasori
Iron Sand Gathering Assault: Sharp (砂鉄結襲・鋭, Satetsu Kesshū: Surudoi?)
Iron Sand Gathering Assault: Fall/Drop (砂鉄結襲・落, Satetsu Kesshū: Raku?)

Wind Release: Mask of the Great Wind (風遁・豪風の面, Fūton: Gōfū no Men)
Fire Release: Mask of the Imprisoning Blaze (火遁・獄炎の面, Katon: Gokuen no Men)
Fire Release: Wind Release: Outer ??? (火遁・風遁・ 外蜃愚々, Katon: Fūton: Geshin Gugu?)
Fire Release: Wind Release: Raging Wave of Blazing Wind (火遁・風遁・炎風の荒波, Katon: Fūton: Enpū no Aranami): Wind vortex tries sucking you in while Kakuzu tries hitting you with a Fire Release from a perimeter.
Sasuke
Chidori Sharp Spear: Lightning Flower (千鳥鋭槍・雷華, Chidori Eisō: Raika): Big swipe of the blade.
Kisame
Water Release: Waterquake/Water Quaking Pillar (水遁・水震柱, Suiton: Suishinshū?)
Samehada-fused Kisame
Leaping/Flying Swimming Bullet? (飛泳弾, Hieidan?): Makes a blob of water around himself and dashes at others with it. Bounces.
水遁・瀑水牢/爆水牢 (Water Release: Waterfall/Exploding Water Prison): Makes a giant whirlpool around himself. Seen both forms in sites, would need to check on gameplay video to see which kanji is used.

Chapter 567 Stuff

  • Title: The Jinchūriki of the Village of Konoha (木ノ葉の里の人柱力, Konoha no Sato no Jinchūriki).
  • Leaf Rock-Destroying Rise (木ノ葉壊岩升, Konoha Kaiganshō)

Yay this. Could you please translate the sound fx where the Rokubi is emitting the substance?--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 11:55, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

The sound is 'shubo' (シュボ), which is the sound of a flame igniting. It might be meant to invoke the feel of 'shūh' (シューッ), which is a sizzling sound, like that of fireworks, or 'shū' (シュー), which is the sound of mist or steam. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 12:09, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

And just humour an old man and translate a few other frames as well?

  • The fifth frame on page 1. What Suigetsu says.
  • The third and fourth frames on page 13. What Guy and Kakashi say about Tobi's non-use of the Rinnegan abilities.
  • What Tobi says on the double spread after forcing Rōshi to transform.
  • What Kakashi calls the Asura Path's ability as he charges in with Raikiri.
  • What Kakashi says to Guy in the second frame of page 18 after the Rokubi exhales the mist.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 12:25, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

Can you translate what the Eight-Tails said in the page 10?--Spcmn (talk) 00:01, December 18, 2011 (UTC)

First of all, I'd like to apologise for my absence recently. It's been a very busy time for me these past few weeks.
Anyway, for Cerez365:
  • Page 4, frame 5:
    • Suigetsu: "Listen, Karin wants to be with Sasuke and fool around with him. …So in this case, we'd just be two nuisances." (「いいかい香燐はサスケといちゃつき合いたい…ならボク達は二人の邪魔者ってこった」, "Ii kai Karin wa Sasuke to ichatsuki aitai …Nara boku-tachi wa futari no jamamono tte kotta")
  • Page 14, frames 3–4:
    • Guy: "Why aren't they using Pain's techniques?!" (「どうしてだペインの術を使ってこないぞ!?」, "Dōshite da Pein no jutsu o tsukatte konai zo!?")
    • Kakashi: "Perhaps… they can't use them…" (「使えない…のかもしれないな…」, "Tsukaenai… no ka mo shirenai na…")
    • Guy: "We already know how to deal with the other Pain techniques" (「すでに知られ対処法の分かっているペインの他の術」, "Sude ni shirare taishohō no wakatte iru Pein no hoka no jutsu")
"So he's not stupid enough to use something that would waste his chakra like that" (「わざわざチャクラを割いてまで使えるようにするほどバカじゃないってことか」, "Wazawaza chakura o saite made tsukaeru yō ni suru hodo baka janai tte koto ka")
    • Kakashi: "Placing seven tailed beasts under your complete control with only your eye power… must cost a substantial amount of chakra, hm" (「瞳力だけで七体もの尾獣を完全にコントロール下に置くには…相当のチャクラを使うだろうからな」, "Dōryoku dake de nanatai mono Bijū wo kanzen ni kontorōru ka ni oku ni wa… Sōtō no chakura o tsukau darō kara na")
  • Page 15–16, frame 3:
    • Tobi: "This time, it's two critters" (「次は二匹だ」, "Tsugi wa nihiki da")
  • Page 13, frame 4:
    • Kakashi: "Absorbing chakra… summoning… drawing in and hurling away… extracting chakra… mechanisms…" (「チャクラの吸収…口寄せ…引き寄せと飛ばし…チャクラの引き抜き…カラクリ…」, "Chakura no kyūshū… kuchiyose… hikiyose to tobashi… chakura no hikinuki… karakuri…")
  • Page 19, frame 2:
    • Kakashi: "No matter what you do, don't touch that, Guy!!" (「何にしても触れるなよガイ!!」, "Nan ni shite mo fureruna yo Gai!!")
And for Spcmn:
  • Page 11, frames 2–3:
    • Eight-Tails: "Don't measure our strength or weakness by the number of our tails, hey!" (「尾の数で強い弱いを決めんじゃねーよ!」, "O no kaze de tsuyoi yowai o kimen janē yo!")
"You bastard's always been like this! That's why the One-Tailed Tanuki hates you in particular!" (「てめーは昔からそうだ!だから一尾の狸に特に嫌われてんだ!」, "Temē wa mukashi kara sō da! Dakara ichibi no Tanuki ni toku ni kirawarete nda!")
"Are you listening, you fucker?! Hey, a fox shouldn't be doing a tanuki sleep!!" (「って聞いてんのかコノヤロー!狐が狸寝入りしてんじゃねーぞコラ!!」, "Tte kiiten no ka konoyarō! Kitsune ga tanukineiri shiten janē zo kora!!")
ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 14:20, December 27, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks much. Cleared up some stuff for me ^_^.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 14:29, December 27, 2011 (UTC)

Filler translations

I went through the articles on the recent filler episodes, looking for things that need translation. Here's what I found:

In episode 227, there's the Ultimate Summoning Animal. From the sound, my guess is 究極の口寄せ獣 (Kyūkyoku no Kuchiyosejū). There's also the location where the episode is set, which from the sound, looks like 口寄せの島 (Kuchiyose no Shima). All these terms can be found between 7:30 and 8:40.
In episode 231, there's Mokuzu Island and Devil's Water Trap. The first is supposed to be around 4:00, I can see the name of the island in the subtitle, but I can't hear it. The Mokuzu part is probably the same as it appears in a ramen shop sign around that time as well. I see it in the subtitles around 5:30. All of it might be around 18:25. There's also the point of whether it's Mokuzu or Mozuku. I think I might have seen it both ways in the subtitles.
In episode 239, there's Earth Release: Earth Hold. Is it 土遁・大地岩障 or 土遁・大地断層 at 5:50? There's also Black Spider Lily and Mind Disturbance Dance Performance Technique at 15:00, but Seelentau already got those, so check it just if you want to make sure we got it right. The only thing I'm not sure in those if it's Kuro or Kuroi in Shikaku's technique, and there might be genbu instead of enbu in Inoichi's.
In episode 240, Kakashi's ninken use five techniques: Circular Formation, Crane Wing Formation, Hound Barricade Formation, Ninken Ninja Art: Dance of the Dust Cloud and Ninken Ninja Art: Hound Clone. From the sound of it, I put down kanji for Crane Wing Formation, and the two Ninken Ninja Art. I think there might be an interesting trivia point about Crane Wing Formation, because in looking for kanji for it, I found references to a battle that involved a manoeuvre with that name. Sequences are from 8:00 to 10:40 and 15:30 to 19:00. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 18:20, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Shounen, I've a question, Is Baji's kanji name which I've posted it in his page true? http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Baji According to the ending credits, if it's false you can fix it and add it into his infobox... Thanks :) (Shakhmoot (talk) 11:20, December 24, 2011 (UTC))

Weld

I've recently decided on another triple combination (earth/lightning/yin), this time Weld Release (接遁, Setsuton? Setton?). However, I see that the name of the nature can be written in three different ways: weld (溶接, 熔接, 鎔接, yōsetsu). Like with Lava Release, I believe that the radical in the first kanji doesn't change things very much, but I'm still interested in any possible differences between them. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 20:27, December 18, 2011 (UTC)

Hiraishin Jutsu Formula

For the Flying Thunder God Technique (and Flying Thunder God Kunai, of course), the "jutsu formula",[1], also on the kunai, seems to be a set of kanji, beginning with "nin" for patience and ninja. It seems we never got to looking at what the whole thing says. What does it exactly say? Until now I always thought it was meant to be gibberish that looks like sanscrit or something >< --GoDai (talk) 03:33, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

I was Wondering...

I remember a loooonnng time ago you said (if I'm not mistaken) that it was mentioned the Minato had the potential to surpass Hiruzen. I was wondering if you know where that was stated, assuming you remember, as that seems like something that should be mentioned in his abilities section, since it isn't as of now. Skitts (talk) 02:53, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

Ever have any luck with with this? Skitts (talk) 21:43, January 10, 2012 (UTC)

Figurative names

Hi, it's me. I was looking around for ideas for the kekkei tōta theory Earth+Lightning+Yang, and right now I'm thinking it would be interesting if the combination was something like self-replicating molecular nanotechnology; Electrical energies being used to allow inanimate particles (Earth) to imitate (Life), or in other words give them the ability to move on their own. I was mainly thinking of the "grey goo" stereotype, molecular nanotechnology that consumes all matter to self-replicate, aka ecophagy. I'm most interested in a figurative name for such an element, which at the same time, could be quite difficult, I imagine. What would be the very closest figurative name you'd recommend? --GoDai (talk) 04:14, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

Kagome

Hey Suki, is this translation correct?

かごめかごめ 籠の中の鳥は いついつ出やる? 夜明けの晩に 鶴と亀が滑った 後ろの正面だあれ?

Kagome Kagome Kago no naka no Tori wa Itsu Itsu deyaru? Yoake no ban ni Tsuru to Kame ga subetta. Ushiro no shoumen dare?

Kagome, Kagome, the bird in the cage, when will you come out? In the evening of the dawn, the crane and turtle slipped. Who stands right behind you now?

White Flash 05:56, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

I think it's correct, after constantly watching this video, the little kids are whispering it in Japanese. White Flash 03:26, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
Another thing, this image, do you know what those five kanji means?--White Flash (Talk) 04:09, December 30, 2011 (UTC)

Chapter 568 Stuff

  • The Four-Tails: King of the Sage Monkeys (四尾・仙猿の王, Yonbi: Sen'en no Ō)
  • Guy says about the Rokubi's gas, "The trees instantly wither! …Corrosive gas?!" (「木が一気に枯れた!…腐らせるガスか!?」, "Ki ga ikki ni kareta! …Kuzaraseru gasu ka!?")
  • Lightning Transmission (雷伝, Raiden)
    • Raiden, when written as 雷電, means 'thunder and lightning' and as such — with the 'sama' suffix — is an alternate name for the Japanese god of thunder, Raijin. When written as 雷電, it is also the name of a famous video game series.
  • Morning Peacock (朝孔雀, Asa Kujaku).
  • The Yonbi introduces himself as, "I am the Handsome Monkey King of the Water Screen Cave; the King of the Sage Monkeys, bestowed with the Dharma name of Son by the Sage of the Six Paths. I am Son Gokū, the Great Sage Equalling Heaven hoohoohooooo!!" (「オレは水簾洞の美猿王 六道仙人より孫の法号を与えられし仙猿の王。孫悟空斉天大聖だウキキィーーー!!」, "Ore wa Suirendō no Bien'ō, Rikudō Sennin yori Son no hōgō o ataerareshi Sen'en no Ō. Son Gokū Seiten Taisei da ukikī~~~!!")
    • Handsome Monkey King (美猿王, Bien'ō) and Great Sage Equalling Heaven (斉天大聖, Seiten Taisei) are both titles Son Gokū from the Journey to the West bears.
    • The Water Screen Cave (水簾洞, Suirendō) is the cave where Son Gokū was born on the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit (花果山, Kakazan).
    • A Dharma name (法号, hōgō) can be one of two things. It can be the name given to a newly ordained Buddhist monk or nun, or it can be the posthumous name given to deceased people according to the Buddhist faith.
  • The Kyūbi's name is Kurama (九喇嘛, Kurama), which literally means "Nine Lama" and is obviously a reference to Kurama from Yū Yū Hakusho.

Sorry to bother you with this yet again my friend. But I'm curious on what Kishimoto actually wrote in 568. Particularly what the Four-Tails said about his name and what appears to be his entire title.--TheUltimate3 ~Keeper of Lore~ 14:08, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

Also if I put Kurama's japanese name right. --Ilnarutoanime -NejiLoverr- 14:10, December 26, 2011 (UTC)
I expect there being lots of references to Journey to the West and Dragonball. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 14:21, December 26, 2011 (UTC)
And the age-old request of looking for info pointing towards gender.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 15:22, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

I'm with TheUltimate3. I don't trust the translation we have. The translator has a rather bad record and what he did in this chapter in some cases doesn't sound like proper english. I would be much obliged if after you've read the raw you could post the bits and pieces which are misleading in the current version.91.57.201.197 (talk) 01:37, December 27, 2011 (UTC)

Could you also please translate what Guy says about the corrosive/rotting gas, "...腐らせるガスか!?" Blackstar1 (talk) 17:33, December 28, 2011 (UTC)

So... Can "monkey" in this sense be translated as "ape"? Also 'Connexion' with an x O.o?--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 22:58, December 28, 2011 (UTC)

That's an old way of spelling the word. Isn't that an out-dated way of spelling it, even in UK English? Isn't "connection" more commonly used even in UK English? Also, does the title of King means that Son Gokū is confirmed as a male character? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 23:01, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
I've never seen that spelling before thought it was Spanish but it doesn't fit Kakashi's style. xD Where I'm from we use English UK and I've never seen it like that though. Also look for gender stuff for the other beasts please~.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 23:08, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
DON'T TOUCH MY PRETTY X! HISSSS!!
It's somewhat uncommon nowadays but certainly not outdated or archaic. I used it because I like the look of it and… that's about it. I like the x. It's a Nobody now.
And yes, 猿 can be translated as both 'monkey' and 'ape', but I feel that 'monkey' is more fitting here. Son has a tail, after all. Four even. And no, the use of 'king' doesn't imply gender. 王 is basically genderless, despite the existence of 女王. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 23:09, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
The only gender indications are the use of masculine first-person and second-person pronouns by the Bijū. Still, that could also mean they're genderless. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 23:11, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
My only concern with the x spelling is having to deal with people changing it to "connection" every time they see it. We already endure the regular changes to US spelling, but seeing that this jumps more to the eye than the standard UK spelling, it seems a bit like asking people to edit and change the spelling. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 23:36, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
Firstly, Lmfao! But I have to agree with Omnibender, people'll probably think it's an error even more so than the UK spelling and we won't really have anything (forlackofabetterword) substantial to rebuff them with.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 23:44, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
  • pats x* Poor you, such a misunderstood and ignored letter…
Fine, fine, use the ugly spelling. I see enough x's in Katekyō Hitman Reborn and Kingdom Hearts, any way. At least Amano-sensei and Nomura-sensei still appreciate the beauty that is the x. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 23:59, December 28, 2011 (UTC)
By Talos keep it with the X. I want to see how many people keep it as connextion and think it's some awesome new word.--TheUltimate3 ~Keeper of Lore~ 00:12, December 29, 2011 (UTC)
Like I said, I don't mind the fact it's written like that, what I mind is having to deal with people changing it, and having to change it back ad nauseum. Maybe uncommented warnings like we had for irises/irides situation will work? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 00:16, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

I don't want to doubt you, but my wadokujiten says that 伝 means 'life' or 'biography' when read as でん and not 'connexion'. Seelentau 愛 01:50, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

I would say it takes on the meaning of 'passing down' more than 'life' itself. Still, the basic meaning remains the same. A biography (自伝, jiden) or legend (伝説, densetsu) is nothing more than a connexion or transmission between two people, or the past and the present. That's what this kanji signifies and 'connexion' seems to be the best translation in this case, at least to me. Besides, 'den' is simply the on'yomi, so it's only natural to use it in compound nouns. Perhaps 'Lightning Transmission' might be a better translation, though… —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 02:27, December 29, 2011 (UTC)
ah, I see. And why's the 水 in your translation of 水簾洞 missing? Also, maybe I trust it a bit too much, but my wadokujiten says 簾 can be read as す or すだれ, but not れん... Seelentau 愛 17:18, December 29, 2011 (UTC)
I accidentally typed 'bamboo' instead of 'water'. I fixed that now. Also, both す and すだれ are the kun'yomi for 簾; れん is the on'yomi. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 17:27, December 29, 2011 (UTC)
But isn't now the 'bamboo'-part of 簾 missing? Seelentau 愛 17:48, December 29, 2011 (UTC)
The 'bamboo' part isn't important, nor is it inherent to the kanji. The kanji simply refers to a specific kind of curtain or screen that, coincidentally, is usually made of bamboo. It can also be made of other materials, though. The bamboo nature of the screens is made even more immaterial when you consider the Chinese origins of the name, as the kanji refers to any and all sorts of curtains and screens in Chinese. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 18:34, December 29, 2011 (UTC)
Are you going to follow with the "transmission" translation or will we keep the "connexion" one? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 20:18, December 31, 2011 (UTC)

Transmission does fit better, I'd say. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 18:17, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

Uzumaki

Not too sure if I have to do this, but it may possibly be overlooked idk. I think we have enough "proof"? now that the symbol behind Kushina and Mito is the Uzumaki clan's emblem. It was also in Mito's bedroom back in chapter 500. (Not too sure how to put this part) I would however ask that you'd make it on a white background? I think it'd be easier to see or something.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 14:26, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

Colour's fine. But I was thinking it might be easier to see the little (triangles)? in the clan symbol better if it were white O.o?--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 14:52, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

#buh! I like it. I thought it was wrong at first but the I realised that's what the one over Mito's bed looked like. Although… why'd you make the outer circle white O.o --Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 16:57, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

Naw it's fine. I was just wondering is all. Far be it from me to stop your creativity from running free. I wanted to make witty comment about the word "connexion" but I have failed horribly. =\--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 17:17, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

Team Kakashi

Sorry for having to ask but could you tell me if the name team kakashi or team 7 was used on page 152 of the first databook? I need it so I can but a reference for the team kakashi page. Joshbl56 10:11, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

Yosuga Stuff

Hi Shounen! Sorry to bother you with this, but can you please translate Yosuga Pass and Tragedy of Yosuga Pass for me? Thanks in advance! --Ilnarutoanime -NejiLoverr- 10:46, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

Request

Hey Shounen (Suki?). I know you don't know me, and I hope you're not bothered by this, but I recently sort of "adopted" a dead wiki and having trouble with the japanese and all, since I'm not a native speaker. Question is, could you provide an accurate translation for "三日月宗近"? I know the first word in it means "crescent/new moon", but I can't find anything decent for the last two kanji. Like I said, I hope this doesn't bother you :P

PS: Nice to see another dutch-speaker on the wiki! Ge zijt tot nu toe slechts de tweede die ik op alle wikis waar ik ooit ben geweest heb gezien! Alhoewel ik wel een trotse belg ben :P Kai no kimi - Talk 20:23, December 30, 2011 (UTC)

Awesome. In fact, I needed those four other names and the group name as well, thank you very much :D And I know! Kai is an awesome name, right? And feally, you're writing a novel? Like internet-wise or to actually publish? (Dutch or english, btw?) (: Kai no kimi - Talk 12:19, December 31, 2011 (UTC)
I'd be inderectly honored. And I totally agree. I notificed it especially in avatar... Names that are awesome in English sound incredibly douchy when translated :p Kai no kimi - Talk 23:31, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

More stuff

i feel asif we started on the wrong track, so lets start over. hi, im Darkdragoncano. nice to meet you. i have a question maybe you could get off my shoulders. i waslooking around youtube, and some other websites, and i have heard that Kankuro ends up dying in the fourth shinobi world war(i think, is that the one Tobi started?) so i would like to know The truth, does Kankuro die, or not. and do you know why Baki wears the mask thing? thank you for assictance. Gaaras hair

If you have time, could you take a look at chapter 58 page 3. Gaara is refereed to as "the brown haired kid". I checked the chapters from Gaara's first appearance to the said chapter and didn't see any coloured image of him. And apparently the same thing happened in the dub. Do you have any explanation? I didn't you know liked Avatar. Have you seen anything about the sequel series? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 14:38, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

I'm excited about it as well. I don't think the shipping wars from the first series will have ended up in an unexpected way (though not for the lack of different ships). There are shipping wars about the few known characters already, Marokka seems to be the new Zutara. I'm curious to see how everything has changed, including bending. Much like the speculation I make here, I always tried thinking inventive ways of using bending. All the art released so far looks very good. Have you seen the two leaked videos? Clarification

Heller~ I require your help once more.

When you have the time could you translate what B says about his scarf in chapter 565, page 8, frame 4 (? if counted them in the correct sequence) and what Dodai says about the Sandaime (we need a kewl name for him too >.>) in chapter 553, page 13, frame 1.

  • I just recently realised that his opponents were a mixture of shinobi from different villages.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 17:33, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

Portuguese wiki and images

Hello ShounenSuki, I'm here to report you that I found a portuguese naruto wiki using your works without permission: http://pt-br.naruto.wikia.com/. You can see them in several pages about natures (basic and advanced). Search for them with their romanji names. See ya --Rubião January 6, 2012 (UTC)

Hello ShounenSuki, I'm glad you and the guys from that port wiki are getting along, this is fine. They have a question for you: is this sufficient to show your rights on the images? http://pt-br.naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Arquivo:S%C3%ADmbolo_Doton.png. If not, tell me how could this be done, and I will instruct them about it. Thank you --Rubião January 11, 2012 (UTC)

Chapter 316

Hi, I was wondering if I'm reading an accurate translation, and wanted some help with it. What did Kakashi say about Jōnin and chakra nature requirements? Also, this translation says "... creates a sixth element..." to describe how Wood Release is formed, and I'm not sure if the original said anything close to being along those lines. So could you just translate the minor nature-related details mentioned in the chapter? Thanks! --GoDai (talk) 04:08, January 7, 2012 (UTC)

Icon

hey ShounenSuki i would like to ask of you to make an Konoha symbol in the way you do, so that there isen't a white bagground, if you have the time of course. And if you don't if you can tell me how you do. --Kasan94 (talk) 19:46, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

Rikudo Moniker

Heller again~ We've been having a slight issue with Madara/Tobi and Nagato's moniker Second and Third Rikudō respectively. Though I finally found your translation in the Q3 archive of 2010, you never translated the 'Rikudō' there and we can't seem to find where you did anymore. With that, how would you translate the monikers? Could you respond here please↓ it'll be easier when we're referencing it elsewhere.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 13:55, January 10, 2012 (UTC)

I would translate the actual monikers themselves as 'Second Six Paths' (二人目の六道, Futarime no Rikudō) and 'Third Six Paths' (三人目の六道, Sanninme no Rikudō). Translating them as 'Second/Third of the Six Paths' would imply that 'Six Paths' refers to a group of six people, rather than to the Sage of the Six Paths. As silly as it looks, using 'Second/Third Six Paths' would avoid confusion, and we all know there's been a lot of confusion about that… —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 21:32, January 10, 2012 (UTC)

Ah indeed. Thank you very much.--Cerez365Hyūga Symbol 21:41, January 10, 2012 (UTC)

Question

Dear Mr. ShounenSuki, I would like to ask you a question. I very well know that you can translate manga chapters, my question is can you translate anime episodes too? 119.154.63.168 (talk) 09:47, January 11, 2012 (UTC)

Chapter 569 Stuff

  • Title: Proof of Intentions!! (意志の証明!!, Ishi no Shōmei!!)
  • Frog Strike (蛙たたき, Kawazu Tataki). I see no reason to assume there is a pun in here.
  • Iruka says the graduation exam is the normal Clone Technique on page 12.

When you translate Frog Smash, could you also please provide your thoughts as to why "Tataki" may have been used, as I'm not sure what Kishimoto's intentions were (another pun?). Blackstar1 (talk) 17:33, January 11, 2012 (UTC)

Also, if you get the chance, could you translate what Iruka says about the graduation exam on page 12? MangaStream translated it as him saying the exam was over the Shadow Clone technique which is just plain incorrect unless Kishi made a mistake. Skitts (talk) 18:15, January 11, 2012 (UTC)

i have a request could you look at chapter 569 and find out everything that was actually said in regards to the chakra chains binding son goku auy implied limitations 206.74.210.150 (talk) 06:23, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Amegakure academy

While lurking at Naruto Forums, I saw there's this thread where people make requests to people who own the official English volumes of the series, and the third databook. In a scan of the beginning of Viz's translation of the third databook, in the part where it shows how to read the entries, such as rank and village of origin, there was this small text showing which were the possible ranks, and just below it, there was a note saying that Amegakure didn't have a ninja academy, and something about their genin I don't recall right now. Can you confirm/clarify that with your Japanese edition of it? This seems like a mildly interesting piece of trivia. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 03:06, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Sign

Can I ask you something? Can you make a little sign for Shiotsumyaku "Corpse Bone Chain" like the ones classification category in infobox's? I tried asking about it and Jacce said I should ask it on your talk page. 119.154.16.5 (talk) 16:12, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

First of all, thank you for making one, second, it's a little hard to see can you make it a little darker? 119.154.16.5 (talk) 13:35, January 15, 2012 (UTC)

*shrugs* I think it looks fine, really. I don't see a reason to change it. Besides, I picked those colours for a reason and changing them would lessen the effect. —ShounenSuki (talk | contribs | translations) 20:31, January 15, 2012 (UTC)

Reason for Son indstead of Gokū

--Cosmikaze (talk) 02:12, January 16, 2012 (UTC)

Ah okay i see. Thanks for the feedback. --Cosmikaze (talk) 13:16, January 16, 2012 (UTC)
